Beware: 1969 912 Original Paint, 2 Owner, 79K miles, No Rust

Have inspected this car and it is not original paint. Best I can tell there was a problem with the clear coat and the car was repainted by the dealer very early on.

Regardless if you are buying from afar the paint quality is very poor. It is very dull with too much metallic in it. You will be disappointed if you're expecting old factory paint, a close inspection by highly qualified person is warranted so you can make your own decision.

Vin for reference: 129023268

Hey Racerboyt.

Let's clear the air so everyone is informed and they can make their own judgment. .

You and I were once friends . You at the time were the local Porsche flipper in San Francisco. Buying and selling cars and parts. I am not but rather a winery owner in Sonoma http://www.kutchwines.com is who I am.

We spoke fairly often. You told me how awesome Turbo's were. I started to look for one and posted a wanted ad.

Here is the Ad: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-wanted-wtb-wtt/849808-wtb-76-77-turbo.html

I stumbled on a gem of a project and it was cheap! I shared the pictures with you and when you asked how I found it, I said via posting a Wanted ad here!

Well, it wasn't but 17 days later when you posted your own wanted ad for the same car!

Here is the Ad you posted! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-wanted-wtb-wtt/852492-wanted-1976-turbo-carrera-project-car.html

So, with that point shared, our relationship was destroyed after you tried stealing the car under me. The owner had received your deposit and returned it to you when I told him the situation. He sold the car to me which I still have. He posts here and if you want to push this further, I will have him post and express the same. Their are detailed posts of his car and pics and this can get even more fun!

As for your opinion and trying to manipulate my near perfectly original car: Here are some facts for you:

The car was sent to Immaculate Reflections one of the best detailers in the state of California. I woudl be happy to have him join this site to verify his long history of experience and his MANY long hours of detailing this car carefully with the use of a wheel and paint gauge. He said without question the paint was original. He has detailed La Ferrari's to simply 912's and I don't doubt his opinion for a second.

The second fact: My father fixed boats for 35 years. He painted thousands of boats and was more intimate with paint that you, your son and your sons son will ever be in all your lifetimes. Here is his Bio and you can see his last name: Higloss Marine Refinish Corp, Charles Kutch, Painter in Patchogue, NY (631) 758-7998 | myHomePro.org

My dad saw the car about 3 months ago when he came to visit me from NY and my new 2 year old son and wife. We took the car up to Sonoma Raceway, he saw it in the sun and said without question, 1000000% the paint was original. You can see the very light oxidation down to the orange peel.

So, big guy, back it up... I honestly feel sad for you as you try to hurt me back. That said, I won't name call. I won't lie. I will tell the truth so everyone know's who and what you are and what to believe.

PS; if anyone wants the original owners phone number of this car, I will be happy to provide it. He lives in Sacramento and sold me the car 2 years ago. He is an great and honest old timer with great stories of this car and loved to talk about it. He told me tons and tons and tons of history and after I paid for the car, said it never had a single drop of paint on it.

So, you all decide and come inspect it for yourself. Cheers!

Well, it's a beautiful car original paint or not; I personally wouldn't be hung up on that anyway.

These call out threads can certainly be a double edge sword. I look forward to Racer's response.

I wasn't making any statements about the OP, I do want to make sure buyers know the car should be carefully inspected as I and two others who saw the car believe it is very old but not original paint.

I am not/was not friends with the owner, he did reply to a Craigslist add I had and I tried to share some knowledge of these cars with him over a several week period, hence how I saw and inspected this car (with paint meter).

Not trying to call anyone out, I am tired of seeing misrepresented cars, especially if I have seen the car in person. Overall the car is in very nice condition, has a cool story and runs and drives ok.

Fine and fair but let's be clear, that you have no integrity. That can be seen by the dates of the Wanted ads I posted and then you posted a short few days later. You can't hide that fact that it adds up to you trying to steal a car and not being trust worthy.

Also, you are not in the industry of paint, painting or repair. Two of those who are, both with a combined 50 years of work experience say otherwise. Let's let those who wish to decide to pursue the car decide instead of a guy with a grudge bashing a car that's far nicer than anything you own.

Ps; your also in business illegally. Should we open that can of worms and inform the correct parties in the city and state of that? After all, I am tired of brokers illegally flipping cars and driving up prices.

Whatever it's worth, rdwinelover took the time to probably narrate the best call out I have seen in a long time. From reading it, it is what it is. Whatever retaliation that racerboy planned with the 912 it's obviously backfired. At least the seller of that Turbo was honorable and honored the deal rdwinelover got.

However, is the 912 original paint or not? It's the sweetest 912 I have ever seen. And I guess I wouldn't take much to find out if it's original paint or not. And if it isn't, the description needs to be changed to 'original color.'

Racerboyt,

Thanks for posting this. I really appreciate it!

Personally, I couldn't give a rat's ass if the paint on this car is original or not. However, if you hadn't posted this, I wouldn't have been aware of Kutch Wines and the cool back story there. Jamie, congrats on living your dream and making a great product and brand. I've subscribed!

original paint should have approx 3 mils plus or minus 1 mil depending on compounding and panel(hoods and trunks always had more) so easy to tell unless car has been completely stripped to bare metal.

Congrats on the sale. Any car that sells within 24 hours is typically a good deal for both parties. Tim

No surprise that 912 fanboyz are also the type who discuss a girls' drink (probably with pinky fingers extended, too)!!!
