The 84 carrera $30,000 and 88 carrera $40,000 sold reasonable for the current market. The 964 Cab and Targa were marginal compared what is offered privately and from dealers. My difficulty as a keyboard observer is mileage, service and pedigree. |

Oh to have a collection of uninformed buyers and find two to step up at an auction on your $30k car.
"frame off" "only driven on Sunday's" "my loss is your gain" "selling for a divorcee who just wants it gone" "hurry or I may keep it" "fresh timing belt and water pump" "1 of 1 with this color shift knob" "most are being sent back to Europe"

That one is our friend Realmuscle cars here on the forum. He was trying to sell a Weissach edition and swore the photos were not "photoshopped" even though you could see the sloppy photoshop job. He's had this Targa for sale at a very high price for a long time. I guess he'll keep on trying.

With the money these guys make on commission why can't they hire people that know what they are advertising? The Auctions are starting to resemble the used car lots on the bad side of town.

I went to the the B/J Palm Beach auction for a day in 2014. I walked the grounds and saw what I figured was every car they were going to auction.
30 to 40 % of the cars were nothing but fairly late model used cars. Stuff from the late 1990's and newer. The ones that didn't have the miles posted on the card in the window I assume were high miles used cars. Lots of 90's and 00's run of the mill Mercedes, BMW's and other former high end cars. Run of the mill late 90's to late 00's Corvettes. boring zzzzzzzzz. A lot of the balance were nice drivers from the 60's and 70's. The late 70's and early 80's was a really boring time for performance in this country. Who buys a 180 horsepower Corvette? I realize that Palm Beach is not a big venue for them but it was a real disappointment. I watched a lazy afternoon of bidding where all the cars were sub $50k and just used cars or nice older drivers and a lot of uninspiring bidding. Just about all of the cars look much much better on TV than they do in person.
