That's the end of this thread, I put it out there to sell or not to sell and it came back not to sell. Really, all I had to do was drive it one time and the madness took over, which turns out to be not such a bad thing. The thread has moved over to this permanent one, Ken's 911E
The engine purrs like a sewing machine (thank you Storz), there are zero rattles anywhere on the car, the doors sound like a vault closing accompanied by a little musical ping, the paint is practically flawless, and every single system is go. Is this musical door typical? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpAjUwcJ424 |
My passenger door makes that sound too, on my '82 SC coupe. Even after I replaced the striker. Not sure if that means it's normal. Gets a solid latch, so I haven't worried about it. Still, would like to know.

That's the famous Porsche "Ping" sound. Nobody understands it. It's a mystery.

I think he was 78 and she was 45 when they started dating, married a year later, his fourth. The first one did not like NAVY life as a NAVY wife, the second two died, 10 years later he met sis. I was there the night they met, at my parent's 50th, at Paradise Point, San Diego. Even though he lived in La Jolla, he stayed at the hotel with us. He sent a hand-written note to my dad via the bellman, asking permission to ask sis to the NAVY Ball. A 78 year old dude is asking parental permission from a 72 year old dude to date his 45 year old daughter.

Thread update 12/20/19
To subscribers: thought I would post this for anyone who was following this old thread way back then. Several people wanted to be informed if the car came on the market. Not today, but soon.
Maybe by end of year, but looking at the shop today, I'd say end of spring. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1576976409.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1576976409.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1576976409.jpg The whole reason to pull the engine was that the oil pressure sending unit was leaking and Bob found that the previous Porsche shop mechanic glued the piece in rather than use a gasket, To remove it from the top would have dumped hardened glue shards to fall into the crankcase. Then we found a leaking oil cooler, then I said might as well do it right, since the engine had 250,000+ miles on it. The car is at 485,000 based on docs http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1576976409.jpg fan pulley by Tru-6 |
