I think your assumptions of a barn find are incorrect. You're talking about a neglected basket case that will cost $50k to make roadworthy. I think "barn find" more often refers to a hidden gem that simply needs fluids, tires, and a battery. And a cleaning. And it is found at a massive discount since the owner does not know how to work a computer.

I reckon its optimistic but I agree with you that If the guy finds a car that just needs fluids, belts, fuel and a spit and polish then its something that would likely be worth doing. "Barn find" for me bring back dark memories, ive been burnt trying to resuscitate something that's too faded. It worked out but took years and money.

I think barn find has a connotation of a gold mine payday, not a money pit disaster basket case.

You might get flashbacks if you look at this thread.
Note these are not "barn finds" even if they are found in a barn.

Does this qualify as a barn find, parked in 1972. Every option ordered, and the best part, still had the original title from Porsche! I will always regret selling that one.
