You could plasticote the wheels black then spray the gloss over on one to see how it looks. I was thinking sort of like this, one of my favorite cars on pelican:
![]() ![]() Also, you will absolutely have to change the yellow fan / housing color out if you sell. Good luck. Amazing car! Post a follow up pic when it's backlit on the ground.

Forget eBay - put a high reserve, one you would be comfortable with and put it on BaT - they love aircooled over there. |

I like the look of the blue wide body with no whale tale. The white one would look good like this too. Let see the current gold OZ wheels on it before doing anything.

Those RS America seats are rare and worth a pretty penny these days.

Man I really like this car. I am a mid year fan myself and this one is amazing. Timing is off for me unfortunately. Next year would have been better but thats how it goes.

I love this build and it would be expensive to replicate. looks to be very well done with a lot of details. I think you could get 35k+ . Midyears are hot sellers
I would be all over it, but have a hot rod 1988 targa. Last edited by nixtfy; 04-08-2017 at 07:00 AM.. |

Thanks to everyone who participated in this thread giving me advise. Now that I understand the value I know that finishing the car and not parting it out is the right thing to do.
I'll continue to work on the car and have it available on BaT in about a month or less. I'll also post something in the Classifieds here and that other P site. Terry |

I would buy it the way it is, though I agree about making the wheels black. I really want a widebody, I like the contrast of black and cork, I like the yellow fan, and it has 90% of the mods I would do eventually. I'm definitely interested when you have it back together.

2) I really like the idea of blacking out the OZ Racing wheels with PlastiDip. Do everything including the rim like in the picture on this thread. Thoughts? 2) What tires. Back when I drove this car BFG Comp T/A's were he cats meow. Great grip but mot erasers like the Perelli P7's. But I haven't kept up with the times and don't know what are considered good reasonable street tires any more. That's why I was thinking I'd leave the tire choice up to the new owner and price accordingly. But I can see some wisdon in having the car "finished" so the new owner doesn't have to do anything but gas and oil and drive it. So what are good 2017 choices. 6) While I likes the looks and feel of the rs 3.8 CF wing tail on the car a lot, it may not be for everyone. Personally I think it balances pretty well with the AIR front spoiler I have. Here are a few pictures of tails like mine if you are unfamiliar. ![]() ![]() But again, I haven't kept up with the times and I see that duck tails have become insanely popular. I guess whats old is new again..... I have no problems changing the tail, but to what? Duck tail.....I never really likes them personally Early period correct whale tail? With or without rubber? Is a fiberglass aftermarket OK? Later SC Tea Tray whale tail. They look great and at one time had one on the car. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Terry |

First, where are you located? I think that can make a difference as to price and how long it takes to sell.
Second, this car looks and sounds (by the description) great. There are more hot rod lovers out there than people might think, and this car seems well built. Don't forget we're on PP, an enthusiast site. Third, I would never buy a car of this supposed quality and modifications without driving it, hard, first. Fourth, I would also have it thoroughly checked out by a Porsche specialist (beyond your normal PPI) because of the modifications and how they actually work on the car. Fifth, low $30's my butt. If this car is everything it's cracked up to be, it's a $40K car all day long. Sixth, I wouldn't change anything. Sure Fuchs would look better and other visual cues improve your potential audience, but a crazy cool, fast Porsche hot rod with a detailed back up inspection from a highly qualified shop (that YOU get before you market the car) will sell quickly at a price below $40k. Just my 2 cents. GLWS Nick

What you can do is keep everything the way it is - but please replace the old tires.
Keep it what it is - and sell your own vision. The wheels, tail, etc are not my cup of tea but it's maybe a lot of peoples' cup of beer, so in keeping it the way it is saves money. Saves a lot of money. And why the hell not in some ways - and those ways it's sort of a period correct ('80s period) hot rod. It's way too much tail for me but who the heck knows? I don't like a tail on almost anything or gold BBS wheels - but there are a lot that do. If you put it out there and sell it knowing you're selling your own vision (but safe one, with new tires) maybe someone will dig it. You've got nothing to lose. |

Thanks for the advise on Plasti Dip on the wheels. I did the OZ Racing 3 piece wheels in black and now it has a new bad a$$ look much nicer than the dated gold wheels like the pictures above. Did a lot of research on this (over thinking it) before I shot the wheels and it came out very nice. And the nice thing about Plasti Dip is if the new owner want to return them to the original gold color they can. Car has new tires, new brake duct hoses, all of the front suspension cleaned and coated with Por15, etc, etc, etc. I'll post some new pictures next week when I'm finished before it goes up for sale. Here are a few pics of the car which is getting close to being on the ground permanently.
The black on the hood and tail are Avery Supreme Satin black wrap which gives it a nice look with the black wheels. Two people that have seen it thought I painted the black.......nice. Terry |

As mentioned earlier, this is a great BaT car. Look at the recent auction results for modified 911s over there. For this 911, all the boxes are checked.....knowledgeable, long-term owner and a car that is in great shape/well detailed. Take lots of pics of the underside, suspension and engine bay. The BaT peanut gallery will try to pick it apart but this car will stand up to the noise. Good luck.

Yes, right now BaT is my first choice for listing the car. We'll see if I can work with them.
I'm pretty thick skinned so I think I can handle the "noise" I didn't know if I was going to like the satin black hood / tail look but I think I nailed it the color. Just enough shine. Flat or matt black just wouldn't have looked as good IMO. Terry |

Some of the pictures with the car almost complete. Have some P stickers coming for the wheels and am considering putting a glossifier coat on the wheels to make them shine a bit more instead of the matt black they are?
I've been in touch with BaT and will upload pictures today and see how it goes. Terry |

Wow! That looks absolutely killer! Good choice to keep the wing and do the black wrap as it really compliments the wheels and gives it a very aggressive look. I like the fact that it has the mods to back up the look too.
The thing I like about BaT is that it lets you tell the story of the car -and part of the story is the care that's gone into the mods and just the level of detail. This is one clean car. Let us know when you list it on BaT if it makes it that far. I think you might get some offers before hand. Maybe throw it up on Pelican classified and see what bites you get.
