75 Carrera value

Interested to know what the pros here think the value of my 75 US Carrera.
Recent repaint to factory special order Marathon Blue. Properly rebuilt engine with documentation, nice interior with some wear. Salvage title due to theft recovery. Nice mostly stock Carrera. Just wondering....

that is a very pretty car. the salvaged title is such an albatross on any car. if I were interested a police report on the theft/recovery and any documents you may have from the insurance company may get the right buyer to pay close to market value. i'd try to find the most recent issue of excellence that the now deceased bruce Anderson used to do market valuations. could not hurt to dig one of those up to see what he has said on the model over the years. he always touched on "special editions" of a specific model year that may be revealing to your current search for value. I no longer subscribe & as best I can recall BA has been dead 3-4 years so it may take a old edition of the mag and will have stale values, but possibly some good data points on the Carrera.

Not a pro !

They are definitely a few here though and I'll let them chime in but personally, I wouldn't pay a premium for the 75 Carrera over their 911/911s brethren.

Nice well kept car.

Dave,

My advice is to drive car and just enjoy it. A theft recovery and subsequent repairs should not have much of a impact on the valuation of a car in my opinion as long as it was put back together correctly with matching number components but unfortunately a salvage title won't fly with many collectors. I'll respond in more detail offline.

Dave,
A couple of questions come to mind: is the chassis, engine and trans matching (POA would verify that); are all the vin, number plates still present? If all the above criteria were met, would an overseas sale care one way or the other? As far as that goes, would anyone care if all the data matched and it the body was verified solid and properly repaired if needed?

Drive and enjoy it! I appears to be a beautiful car.

Yes, nobody for 35 years would have ever paid a premium. Only people that did is when they were new and purchased by the original owner in '74 and '75 and then in late 2012.

But now there is quite a disparity between '74 and '75 S cars and US Carreras which are essentially the same with the same engine, as the Carrera does now carry a substantial premium over a S nowadays.

Many people who have been in the hobby a long time scoff at the US Carrera prices as they have always done for 35 years. It's mostly the people that are new to the hobby and want something unique with low production numbers.

Myself, I wouldn't pay the premium either. But there are a lot that will.

Salvage means nothing on this car. Salvage doesn't matter on a '75 Carrera to most.

The year of the car helps for those in California.
I don't think the salvage title is that big of a deal for all but collectors as long as it was put together ok.
Really nice color.
Tough to value though-Techweenie is probably your man.

I disagree with most. I think the salvage title is a going to bring value way down. It's silly in my opinion but the market is brutal on salvage titles. Midyear Carreras are hot and rare so that will help. I also agree that all the info you can dig up the theft recovery is going to help the sale. Transparency and documentation will help. Btw beautiful car! I owned a chevy s10 Baja special that was salvage title. Way hard to resell. GLWS

Techweenie is the the oracle in these matters. By definition Wikipedia , "In classical antiquity, an oracle was a person or agency considered to provide wise and insightful counsel or prophetic predictions or precognition of the future, ..." And I am not saying he is old, just wise!

Salvage title will scare away a lot of buyers- unless the price is right.

Yeah, a salvage Chevy S10 Baja Special = '75 Porsche 911 Carrera, low US Production model. Not even close.

Great color. Mid 30's.....

Also, the lines work better without the tail IMO.

You guys are goofy . A super clean numbers matching '75 US Carrera is already trading for $75-$100k make your adjustments for flaws and salvage title and there you have it. That wing is critical on this car as the US didn't see it until the following year on the 930. The 74-75 US Carrera is due a lot more respect than they have been given I have all the original magazines from 1974 testing the Carrera against the 911s and the base model and it certainly out performed both of them not to mention it looks cooler and is super rare

No he didn't and that would have to be a further adjustment made if that be the case. Non numbers matching cars in less than great shape rarely dip below $45-50k
