What color and is it worth it?

So I took my 911 SC to 3 paint shops today. Quotes ranged from $12k-$17.5k. I flat out won't pay / can't afford that much for a paint job so I'm faced with dissembling and stripping the car myself to get things down to the $5k-$7k range. Now the tough question - is the effort and money really worth it? Or will I be constantly stressed out worrying about rock chips and leaving the car unattended? Next question - if I do move forward - I can't decide what color. Keep it the same (schwarz metallic), do Grand Prix white or Arrow Blue?

What's the original color? I'd keep it original if it was mine.

Black Metallic is a great color. And going original is cheaper.

Keep that one original color. You will have a heightened sensitivity to potential chip events and small children near it. BUT what can be pInted in its entirety can certainly be touched up.

unless you're going to paint all the door jambs, inside door frames, glass out etc, then don't change colors..

Well good news is no one that I took my car to wouldn't not paint the jams and take out glass lol. Everyone wanted to go all out an make it a show quality paint job......I just can't justify spending $15k for paint on a $25k car. Which would be worth $30 with nice paint. I've got 186k miles on the clock....don't think my cars worthy of $15k in paint. Maybe I'm wrong.

She looks pretty good in the pic.
What's wrong with the paint?
If no bare spots, drive her as is with no worries!!

I have to agree with BK911
It is a nice car as is, although I do not like the tail
It should be driven and loved as it is unless you want a perfect looking car
Find a good detailer and through money at him and let him work his magic
with a buff wax and a little touch up paint, like on the front bumper.
That's what I would do.

Do a vinyl wrap for $3000. Go wild with your dream color.

Yeah, that's nuts.

I'm having a local guy do mine - he's really good. I'm pulling off everything (bumpers, glass, lights, rear Targa window, etc). I'm buying the paint. He's charging me $3200.

It's worth it to me for that. But not anymore than that. Plus it's a lot of work.

I'm not doing any bare-metal repaint. I'm painting over what's there as it's well stuck and it's just getting sanded.

Keep it original.

I am with Tech, wrap it. A good wrap guy can do the car in any color you like for 3 to 5 grand door jambs and all.

I'm with green73.
As long as there are no rust issues and paint isn't worn thin a great detailer can work magic on a black car for $1k +/-

I agree with Mr. Weenie....also the Wrap may help to defer many rock chips to original paint?

This! I have a black 88 turbo. Paint looked dull, a lot of micro surface scratches, swirls, son used a brush on the hood. He might as well been using a brillo pad. Finish on car looked like crap.
Found the go to detail shop, car looked like new when completed. Not sure, I think it was a 3 stage process. Was really amazing to see the before and after. Cost was under $500.00. tulsadetail.com- A little more info on what they do and what you may look for in your area.

I just had a 911sc quoted for paint at 6-9k. 12.5-25k is outrageous. Go original color.
