Der Flip

I remember this car because I kinda wanted it.

$62K or Less in December

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/928989-cobalt-blue-r-clone-sale.html

$70K Now. Not a lot of Markup. But 15% profit in five months isn't bad.

Did you read closely? If you take Jordan at his word, which I do, he put close to $20k into it in the short time he owned it. So how is that a flip?

It seems 98% of the work was already done. $20k maybe. I have a hard time believing that number.
What is wrong with the car then?

Doesn't look like a flip unless the seller likes losing time/money.

I don't have the old pics in front of me but it looks like a few things were changed. I can't see
buying at estimate $57k? and asking $70k...Which is obo. so lets say he makes 10k. Seems like a a lot of money to tie up or risk if something went wrong. For a 7k-10k profit... Not a bad profit but some work was done. Seems fair to me.

That being said $20k spent on upgrades seems like a stretch but it looks solid and money was spent. I say who cares, nice car sell away!

Add me to the club of folks who were lusting over this one the first time it was for sale here on Pelican.

Ultimately decided to keep my turbo...makes more sense as a daily driver.

I hope whomever buys this keeps it well exercised.

I'm sure Jordan can produce receipts since Dave Hammer did most of that work.

As for what is wrong with it? I suspect Jordan will see this thread and he can reply on his own behalf why he's selling.

Liked it so much better with the Fuchs sans stripes but to each their own. Hope he gets what's he looking for out of it.

I saw this too. From what I remember the car languished on the market for 6+ months and finally traded somewhere near $50k.

Looks the same to me outside of boy-racer stripes and fuel lines fed through the boot (why in the world would you do this and not replace with steel-braided lines????!!!!!).

If seller wants to sniff his ask I'd think he needs to itemize how he spend $20k, and an engine tune isn't going to do it.

None of this is to say it's not a good car....looks fun as balls.

Boy, looking at that thread it was a labor of love. 1000s of hours it looks like. On one side it was a rusty 912 with bad floors and rockers. On the other side it's now what it is - and it took a lot to get it where it is.

Yes it was. He was pretty meticulous about it and took the better part of 2 years if I recall correctly. He had a complete second car to pull sheet metal from. I went up there a couple of Saturdays just to watch him drill spot welds and weld in new stuff since I don't know diddly about bodywork and wanted to see how it is done.

For the targa lovers, Speedo also just listed his 70 911T soft window. That car started out more solid, but also wasn't done so far into outlaw land. I think the ask on that one is $80k. It's listed here.

I do recall this car sitting for awhile before being sold to the current owner.
Seemed like a solid well documented build that was purchased at a fair price(54K?)
Spending 20k to sort then putting it back up for sale in such short period of time seems odd especially after the new owner was posting that he was pretty excited about owning and driving the car

Oh well...GLWTS.

I wonder if something was done with the exposed oil hosing running down the right side (at least it looks like flexible hose in the pics from Deez's linked thread) . . . looks just awful (kinda like vacuum cleaner hose).

Targa is a great Car..... also will need a bit of sorting but is the better buy of the two...

The 912R.... stripes are too busy, wheels are just ugly..... I would love to see the receipts for the $20,000 of sorting.....
