What would the value of this car be 1973 911T MFI Targa.

Hey guys, 1973 911 T Targa MFI. Matching numbers

has 40k on odometer, and records starting 2004 seem to all match

The car sat from 1984-2004 in a garage, until the owner passed, his daughter got it in the estate and revived the car in 2004 with all kinds of work and a repaint..she barley drove the car, put 3,000 miles on it since..and sold it to current owner which is a classic car guy in 2016- he did some work to it like new gas tank , timing, mfi at stuttgart automobile service in walnut and has put a few hundered miles on it.


has 40k on odometer, and records dating back to 2004 seem to all match -

He also has an appraisal from a professional place AAG Appraisals that put it at condition "3" and $60,000 $65,000 value. Dry car no rust Targa top was rated a "1" but i don't think its in that poor of a conditon, could use a redo but not necessary

The records available are the records from 2004 when the lady overhauled the car, and records from next owner who got in 2016

Car drives good, all original, has books, jack, its an AC car but no condenser. Rapaint is "fair" behind license plate part paint is bubbling, then a couple of small cracks in the paint here and there but nothing too bad or noticeable.

Appears nice at first glance.
Too low in the rear for me. I like nothing lower than Euro height.
The oil returns and engine show signs of possibly living close to ocean or salt roads.
Rear sway bar is a nice option.

didn't even notice the rear sway bar. def nice. there isn't any rust so doubt its been around salt. its a 50 year old car..as far as we all know its always been a CA car

It does look like a nice car. I think $53,000 is a fair price. I really think the market has stabilized for these early 911's. There is starting to be more nice ones on the market at any given time for sale than a few years ago.

CA. cars can be really bad or pretty good depending on how much time they spend near the coast. There is a large body of salt water, an ocean, right next to California, a fact that seems to be lost on a lot of people who use CA. as a reason a car is rust free. So yes if this is a CA. car it could have easily spent more time in SD than Holtville or coast cites than East of I-5 cities.
And chrome gets pitted and aluminum gets that white deposits of corrosion and rust forms in the bodies from the out side in not necessarily from the wheel wells up like salt road cars. So when some one says a car is from Cal I take that with a grain of salt,

Very true in the SouthEast as well.

Lots of cars on the coast...high humidity and salt air do not do them any favors. I remember a guy on Fripp island back in the early 1980's that had a mid-70's Datsun pickup truck. The bottom 12" of sheet metal of that truck was gone!

SIlver Targas are awesome. Awesome car. Crazy to think it's even in the 50K region now. But it looks like a nice driver and how many do you really see anymore?

Not in the market for another driver. Already have the 87.

The Carrera is hard to beat in terms of value for the money as a p-car weekend driver. For $45K, you can buy an excellent one for driving.

This one is close to my heart because the first 911 I ever drove looked exactly like this. It was a silver 1973.5 T Targa in 1989. Guy wanted $5K for it. It was a fortune to me. I'll never forget that car.

Now I've got a '75 silver Targa (that's now 80s red). Drives pretty much the same (but a little better/less old feeling).

Yours is an awesome car. But man, for $50k+ there are so many options. But to the right person, that's a deal as life is short if you truly want the experience.

Rick, I don't think his last name is El Moussa. Where do you get this flipper rubbish? Am I missing something? He recently bought a middie with 964 bumpers. He's not sure he likes it enough to keep it. He's still shopping. What's wrong with that?

Hey guys Rick is actually partially right. I'm not a "flipper" though i'm a professional, i broker, buy & sell mostly 996 and sometimes 997 911's. I've also helped many people buy and checkout & buy Porsches at least 3 people on 6speed online some of them didn't charge them a penny just did for fun & a couple of people on 6speed i've sold cars to.
