I can do burnouts in any car. I want to do them in a 911.

Porsche motor preferred but if the price is right I wouldn't mind a V8.

A coupe with a normal front end, not a 993 carerra swap or slant nose swap. Those just remind me of a kit car makes me feel woozy.

There is a large, profound difference between the air-cooled Porsche market and other used/enthusiast markets. I'll only use my direct experience here, but if a smoking deal pops up on a Mk1 mini cooper or 1960's era Bronco it will sit around for a few days, perhaps a week. Forums will discuss it and even help a novice facilitate a purchase. These cars are marked degrees harder to find than a s2000 and still not relatively liquid. You cannot interpolate the experience to an air-cooled Porsche.

You've basically locked in on one or two unicorn deals and assumed that's market because it happened once. Great. But well priced Porsche's in this environment don't trade in increments of weeks, days or hours. It's minutes. There are 1,000s of companies/flippers that troll every available site every second of every day with cash on hand and will close sight unseen immediately. That does not happen with the cars with which "you have experience".

I'm all for your search and think you should hold out for what you want at the price you want, but enough of this "they are out there, see X and Y" bull****. It's annoying and embarrassing. I'd think given how long you've been searching you know the reality by now.

That's my rant.......and good luck! Seriously; I am rooting for you.

Thanks I agree with everything you said.

I know what I'm looking for and the only reason I brought up a few older ones I found is due to other people thinking I'm pulling them out of thin air.

The s2000 talk was me saying I don't like wasting my time and that I am actually serious about making a purchase once a fair deal is found.

The air-cooled market will just take longer since, like you said, its a more dog eat dog market with crazy demand.

Appreciate the insight.

I dunno... Two years of a "WTB" thread and the countless posts herein seems like a huge waste of time to me.

It's the same as posting a new thread saying "check out this for sale ad"

And everyone just proceeds to post there thoughts on it.

Except I'm consolidating those threads in one thread in hopes of getting some guidance to get a good deal and know what I'm looking at.

Some of the cars I post could be beneficial for someone else if I'm not planning to purchase them. One of my threads was an auction car that was sold for $8k with no title and I got a PM from someone who was interested in getting info on how to buy cars from a salvage auction so I helped them out.

^^ bingo

If some people think I'm some bum wasting time ignore my thread and let me keep posting to myself. Eventually I'll pick some turd up.

What's your idea of this "fair deal" you have tried to find for over two years? Is it one where you take advantage of a unknowing seller? Where you get what you want (a $30k+ 911) for $20k?

Dude.... Post #235 see my #1) and #2) examples.

I already replied to you with what my fair deal looks like in that post.
One was super nice gold one even though it had rebuilt title.
Another was a red wide body and I should have grabbed it and been done, skipped class and grabbed cash.

Do you consider yourself qualified to flip Porsches?

Yea you are exactly right. I'd rather rip burnouts knowing if I blow a rod out of the side of the block I can visit a local junk yard and pick up a motor for a coupe hundred blocks and rebuild rather than spending 5-10k+ on a full rebuild on a Porsche motor just because.

Rather than drive around in a big yellow shovel with rear fish gills....
LOL

you're not rebuilding a 911 motor for $5-10k. and from your statement here, i question if you're looking for a 911 or just a "deal".

that car with the V8 sold, what, 2 years ago?

do you not value your time? you could've put in that much OT at work and had plenty of $ for a very well sorted 911...

Qualified as in? I've bought and sold before that's how I paid a good amount of my college tuition by doing so. I'm not talking about buying for 40k and selling fo 45k type flips.

I'm a little confused.. who doesn't try to find a deal when purchasing a car? I'm not trying to buy some random 911 at market and pay a flipper. Rather find the car before the flipper and buy it, enjoy it and use the money I save on mods or the little work it may need.

I value my time but I enjoy learning also. I'd try to build something myself if step by step manuals are out there showing the details involved. I wish I had OT at my job unfortunately salary.

I think the issue is nobody really believes you're serious about actually owning a Porsche

It was a '68 fiberglass widebody turd.

I could afford it at the time but had 3 cars and listed all three for sale to pay some tuition and the first one that sold was the Porsche..

Got the car, drove it 500 miles home.

Starter stuck and gave out half way home and I was pretty pissed since I just bought the car.
Let it cool down and said a prayer and it fired up and I got it home.

All I did was changed the starter, changed the oil, and daily drove it till it got too cold.

Pelican member bought it and is doing some super sweet stuff, see below if you wanna follow the build

Cool, My first Porsche was 69T fiberglass wide body turd. Sheeper of the first order. Still was fun to drive like only a air cooled Porsche can be.
Good luck on your hunting.

Nothing wrong with flipping cars ... but you need to stop it with the lying and deceit.

Until this post, I and many others, I presume, thought you were simply the poor college student/graduate looking for a deal on his first Porsche.
