The guy I've been talking to sent me a few recent pics and a couple showed the background of a shop and I was able to track it down pretty easily.

If its a scam I won't be surprised. If the car was sold I'll be little upset since he told me he wasn't very free to show it this month at all.

Either way there is a local project car I may pick up that doesn't have a 911 motor and it will keep me busy for a while. Already saw this one and keep contact with owner.

Well.......... like some of you predicted......... I guess I slept on this one as well. Even when I was told the seller couldn’t sell the car till a specific date and that car was not listed anywhere it ended up being bought by someone 2 days before I fly out..

An older women called me selling a really nice SC the other day and some D-bag saw the car in her driveway and told her he'd do her a "favor" giving her $9k for it even tho it had no rust and was running and driving before being parked a few years back. These type of people kill it for any enthusiast.

What you need to focus on is buying a car and not on what other people do with cars after they buy them.

Your peers in this market are Dealer, 20 year enthusiast, rich collectors, retired people buying their dream, everybody.
The better the deal the more competition you will have.
I have had just as many scum bag moves done buy enthusiast trying to fulfil their fantasy as dealers when I have sold cars.
I treat everybody the same.
First come with money first served.
NO money no verbal deals.
I do not want to hear their "story" of what they will do with my car after they buy it. flip the car, burn the car, modify the car, keep it forever or sell it next year when they need money for a house. I really do not care, it is their car after money changes hands.

Yes, dealers buy cars that they can make a profit on. That is their business. Flippers buy cars, jump title, and look to make a quick buck. There's a difference there.

What did you do wrong? You saw a screaming deal and you just sat on your hands. Ask was $27k, but he won't show it yet? Offer him $30k. Don't fly in. Just buy the damn car based on pictures. It's a freaking lovely car. It even has the LSD option. You blew it. I guarantee the dealer did NOT pay $27k for it. I would be surprised if they got it as low as $30k. They offered more than the ask and since you didn't have a serious offer on the table you got left out. You got outbid.

Furthermore, you were talking to the middle man. All you had was his word. He doesn't control the car owner. You should have gotten past the dude bro offering the hook up and spoke straight to the owner. Clearly he didn't have all the details and the owner was talking to other people regardless of the assurances homey gave to you.

You are green, son. Niave as all get out and you keep missing deals like a virgin trying to figure out which hole to put it in on his wedding night.
