Starting my search

Hello Everyone

I am starting my search for my first Porsche. I am looking for a 911 around the 2004 to 2006 years. Im looking for some advice as to what to look for as I am searching for the right car. I want a convertible , but after that i'm open for suggestions . Red is my prefered color but here again im open to other options. I'm just needing help to get started as to what to look for and what to look out for.

For starters you need to pick a model, because the years you reference span two different models. I'm assuming maybe you mean the 996, from 2004 and 2005, clarity would help for others to opine for you. In terms of better bang for your buck, the 996 turbo cab probably offers more right now.

There's a 2004 red cab on eBay that really looks good. Seems it was around 18k with 50k miles. Might look into it

Go boost or go bust is my recommendation. If you're limited with your budget, I'd rather have a higher mileage turbo than a low mileage n/a. You can find 996 turbo cab's for under 40k, even with the X50 performance upgrade.

Plenty of (relatively) cheap turbo cabs. If a standard cab needs a $2500 IMSb upgrade, you're probably going to pay a total of $5-8k more for a Turbo, which has a bulletproof engine and intoxicating HP.

If you are willing to go outside 911 and look midengine there's a really solid looking 987 Boxster S in red FS for $26k here on Pelican. Almost the same power as a Carrera but less weight. Great little cars at 60% the price for 80% the performance.

sounds as if you need a midlife crisis mobile.... if you are in fact a doctor and have $40+/- to spend and really want the cab part of the dream id agree with the others that a 996 turbo fits that bill. they can be expensive to maintain at this point due to they are a 15 y/o super car today.

they are fast, will have the better interior in most cases and motor in every case than the base 996/997 models. it's always said "buy the newest 911 you can afford" but the 996tt has compromised that statement some over the last decade to some extent.

I owned and drove a coupe 996TT for 10 months and hated it, but im aircooled & not a doctor....

I'll echo what others have said. Go Turbo, the 996TT cab is probably the most bang for the buck 911 currently in existence.
