Another value thread: 88 turbo
Seeking thoughts on value of a 1988 turbo, 68K miles. I have owned for 4 years. I have approximately $25K in receipts to get the car where it is today. Clutch, oil lines, battery,etc..., pretty much what the car needed, I stroked a check. Rarly8 headers with a fabspeed zork, K27, Fikse 17" wheels, 9" up front, 11" rear.
Car had a glass out paint in 95. At 65K miles, leak down was 2-3% across the board.I can answer more questions if needed. Car is in really nice shape, not a concours queen, but really nice. Others will know better than I will but my guess would be 90-100K currently, would have been more a couple years ago. Still a nice example, but some will be put off by the mileage. I wouldn't...

I'd be put off by the wheels. Sell them and source some stock-sized ones. The car will look nicer.

I would say it would probably sell in the 80s in this current market. Maybe get low 90s if it's exceptionally nice. If you have the stock Fuchs I would put them back on. You'll probably get more money that way. Best of luck with sale. |

I would think in the 70's would be low, 80's sounds about right and you would be lucky to be in the 90's and truly a gift to break 100K.

another vote for putting stock fuchs back on.. and while you're at it stick the stock muffler back on. Stock looking cars are the ones pulling in the good money. This car looks really good and not that far off from looking great! 80s would be my guess too. glws.

Lovely car and I like it a lot........BUT:
Like my 1960 190 SL, the market peaked and has dropped about 15%......I'm gonna wait it out...

Has it? Where do you think a good original 190sl trades these days? 100k flat?

I sold my very, very nice 87 recently...$100k. could have gotten more. don't let people tell you 80-90...that is "good driver" money. I would tell you that $90k should be your low expectation. looks like a very clean car!!

I saw this car in person maybe two-and-a-half or three years ago, under bright and unforgiving florescent lighting. It was a sweetheart then and I kinda doubt this owner has allowed it to deteriorate in any way.
I would think the car should fetch somewhere in the high-eighties to mid-nineties. _

I'm a stickler for stock wheels but I really like these. I would leave the car as it is. Looks awesome. Very tastefully done and well cared for.

So many pipe dreams here still, nobody is really wanting to grasp where actual selling prices are at right now. You all quote ridiculous asking prices that are way off base. That car will not sell for over 80k. Many of you are still stuck in 2014 and 2015, when people were reaching for every 930. Those days are done, that’s wishful thinking.
Here’s a better car, lower miles, amazing condition, and with sport seats - He’s only asking 83k - and it’s not sold. If the OP’s car is an 90k to 100k car like your getting told, then this one must be 100k to 110k. Somebody better jump on it and buy this one then cause it’s way underpriced (even though it hasn’t sold) based on most of these opinions. Maybe you could flip it for 100k. So most of these opinions are skewed way too high to the upside, and not truly based on recent activity but just trying to keep talking the market up. Yes, I own plenty of 930’s too, probably more than most on here, but I’m not talking my position when assessing the value of a car, just my expertise. If you can get 80k for it, I think that’s a very fair deal for you in this market. |

Nobody on here has mentioned the repaint other than OP. That's not going to help value unfortunately. There have been a lot of 930's for sale lately and they seem to be struggling to get top dollar. If I were a buyer, I would be concerned that the car had a full repaint when it was only 7 years old. I think the prior poster is correct. I think 75K to 80K is your ballpark.
