1987 carrera rear lid... what is it ...?
I need help to correctly identify what this lid is...
came off a 1987 carrera car and is factory original... I believe, back in the day, this car could be ordered with rear lid as: a. factory flat/no tail lid... b. factory flat lid with whale tail... c. factory flat lid with turbo tail...= turbo look cars opening on underside is 8" x 29"... please lmk what this is and what its value is so i can fairly list in parts for sale section... thx, bob

What you have is the lid from a 1987 factory Carrera Tail mated with the base and rubber from a turbo tail. I'm not sure if the factory wide body Carreras AKA turbo look came with that tail or if somebody changed the base and rubber.
I saw your previous ad. You want to be very careful when covering shipping. These things are oversized and fairly heavy. I bought a tail from Colorado and it was $250 to ship it from Colorado to Washington State. The cheapest method is probably Greyhound which is probably a little cheaper but it's still going to be expensive. The shipping is usually the biggest obstacle in selling one of these Tails. thx gearby...this is what I am believing now also...
the next q to answer is if this if a 491 option car rear lid... what ever it is, any idea of value on whale tail alone and whale tail with deck lid...? thx

The M491 came with a standard rear lid with the turbo tail mounted like this one. However the tail pictured was added after the fact as the reinforcement bar for the tail runs through the centre of the emissions label. If it was a factory M491, the emissions sticker would be placed further towards the rear of the lid as not to be obscured by the reinforcement bar.
