value of perfect SC roller?
Hi there,
I am kicking around purchasing an SC because I want the engine. It is a perfect car with cold SC, Brembo brakes, extremely tight with a newly reupholsted interior and it is a Weissach edition in the dark gray or whatever color the darker color was that this model came in. If I pull the motor and sell the roller either with or without the transmission what do you guys think the value would be? I could even include a 3.0 SC core motor. I'm just trying to see if I can make the numbers work. Thank You. Jay

If you can get a Weissach cheap enough to make this cost effective you should be flipping it as a numbers matching car for a profit without turning a single wrench.

I'll add this to my original question. What does the gallery think a Weissach edtion that has had it's motor hot rodded up with very few miles put on it worth? ...perfect interior and an a/c that actually works. Very tight car looks like original paint so a few rock chips etc.
I'm kicking around buying it but I really just want the engine. I hadn't considered just buying it and flipping it but I suppose if I could make a couple of bucks I might consider that too.

Depends on who did the engine and what kind of paperwork. I could see a car like that pushing mid to high 30s somewhere like BaT. Once you break it up and it no longer numbers matching you’ve just got a nice roller that’s worth $15-20k.

To me... a nice chassis just missing the motor is worth $15,000 to $20,000. Quite a few floating around right now.

Over 30K in engine build reciepts but that included carbs etc. Reputable builder and very few miles on the engine. ...probably 3000 miles or so since built. ...have over 40K in pretty recent receipts including trans rebuild, big brakes, interior etc. It is one of the nicer SCs that I've driven. I personally do not care for the Weissach interior too much but it is unique.
At 15 for a roller it wouldn't make sense for me. At 20K I could start thinking about making a deal happen. I want the 25-30K motor at a deep discount. ![]()

500 miles after a $30k engine is built it is worth $20k.

If it's as nice as you say - it being an original numbers matching Weissach - I'd wager the price to be closer to $40-50K.

I generally attach a 10-15% hit to my numbers until we see pictures suggesting the car is as nice as described. I’m a natural skeptic.

I’ve been around these cars a very long time and this one is a really nice driving car! It’s tight, mechanically damn near perfect and the engine runs fantastic -It’s a short stroke 3.2 revs to the moon and does it in a hurry and no **** the a/c blows cold.
Could use a set of fuchs put back on it and maybe some of the red paint around the fan removed [img]http:.com/uploads26/_8AD1_42AE_8D16_F5A77C2481B4150 ![]() ![]()
