1972 Widebody Caged shell value... worth it?

Checking this car out today.

1972 caged widebody 911

Yes, I know the rear fiberglass body decreases the cars value as well as all the cutting but what would you value the car at?

Seller is asking 12k but obviously taking offers.

He is in possession of a few motors as well so might work out a deal.

What would you pay for a project like this if it has no rust?

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

CRAIGSLIST INFO: "1972 Porsche 911 pan/chassis with a 930 wide body kit on it,Porsche BBS wheels, racing sway bar kit on the front, set up for coilovers in the rear.full racing roll cage, shop built and nicely done, many new parts, rear slotted rotors etc, also comes with a nice set of steel original 1972 911 doors complete with glass and frames, and a steel hood, and also another set of fiberglass front fenders, comes with a clear Ohio 1972 Porsche title, asking 12k for everything"

Depends on what you plan on doing with it. It's hard to tell the quality of the work from a bunch of blurry photos but I have a 911 tub with a similarly extensive cage that was done with all TIG welded chromoly to an extremely high level of detail and just the cage work is in the neighborhood of the asking price. If you want to build a crazy race car/ IMSA tribute car that can have a license plate it may not be a bad deal if the quality of work is very high (though from what I can see of the gussets, it looks more circle track build quality then WRC/DTM tube work). To return to stock...... probably not the right car.

You are on the money yet again.. most the car is glass.

I guess in the 80's they sold kits that were mostly fiberglass and literally even the upper quarter panel is fiberglass so mainly looks like a pan and a tubed chassis with fiberglass body bonded.

Will pass on this car for now.

Thanks guys.

This would make for a fun track car, but it's cheaper to buy a used race car than it is to build one. Trust me.

I'm confused where I talked trash about them?

I said it was cut up ( its very cut up)

& it has an older fiberglass shell bonded to it.

I found the exact shell on here for 2500obo and was wondering where he got his value from. He said he'd take best offer within a week or so and it does make a nice racecar.

But not looking for a fiberglass race car. All I'm looking for is some opinions and guidance not sure what's up with that you are getting at.
