Too Much Is Never Enough

Some of you who like me who are from the MTV Generation will remember the likes of Billy Idol saying this. It was the first thing that popped in my head when I went to buy a couple of cars this week. I made the deal on the 2 cars and then guy asked if I wanted some motors, 14 in total. Never one to say no I agreed. The problem was I had a single car trailer, so how do I get it all home? We got creative and it was a scary ride home, through a lake effect snow storm by the Great lakes, I hate this corridor any time after Thanksgiving.
What we ended up doing was filling the bed of the truck with engines. That left us a bunch, which we front loaded on the trailer. We then took the back off the trailer after loading the car, with the front hanging off the trailer. But that left us with 3 engines, what to do? We took the gate from the trailer and put a 2nd tier on the trailer, it worked! We made it home, it wasn't a fun ride, but all arrived safe.
Too Much Is Never Enough indeed!

---Adam

“Hi I’m Adam And I scored a great haul. Ha ha ha. Just want you all to see me separating cars from their unknowing owners. “

And to think he drove 1200 miles endangering others with things that could fall off a trailer.

Good work again

I've tried, oh how I've tried to rationally explain how the world works to this guy, but I think I've figured it out, he is in fact a pigeon....

Man, I bet all those chassis are long gone though. I can't imagine what those cars went through after what I've seen living here the past year - ie. the amount of salt that they use around here.

At least the engines survive. That's quite the stash though. At least the guy realized it was time to give them up. Interesting to see how well they have held up internally all those years. Might be worth getting together some sort of out-of-car test rig to get some real numbers and to see how they run with that many.

I've bought 52 Porsches from this guy over the last few years, all from one collection. I went through and matched up about 20 cars with their motors, so that was a fun day. These motors were all from cars he scrapped, but kept the guts. And no, he wasn't unknowing or unsuspecting on prices, he is just very private and trusts me and me alone to see his stuff. He once mentioned to me that I'm only the 4th person to see his stuff, that includes his wife in the 4 people. It took me give years before he would sell me anything. So while some guys in their ignorance think guys like me just go around scalping people to buy Porsches, the reality is years of hard work and making connections is what lands the big fish. You don't get the phone call unless you're known for being honest and discreet, both of which I am.
