A fair value question

So I have an itch for a new toy. I also have a thing for green Porkers.
With that, the one in the FS section caught my eye. I'll paste it to save searching.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/981622-1976-porsche-911s.html

I'm better on the price of Hun watercooled cars. The vehicles this old I have or have owned are all British. So help me learn what the pricing on these is.

I saw one in Florida with a 3.2 swap for 44 not that long ago. It was on the block for a long time and the dealer looked well dodgy. Ex PCA all over the blurb. Of course I can't find it now I look, but I remember it was light yellow and istr a targa.

Apart from that I have no touchpoints. Since it's cold, wet and rainy and I have nothing better to do right now, assuming the engine is ok and it passes a PPI, what would FMV for something like this be?

fair value question

Alan - 49K for that year is a lot over priced, do additional research, most of the 74 - 77 while not my favorite years can be bought for a lot less dollars then 49K - remember it's Christmas --- no one is really buying anything unless it's priced right this time of the year. Just my 2 cents -- good luck.

It's a dealer. Of course it's overpriced.

I haven't seen many - full stop - but even fewer with swaps. Hence my Q.

it's a 76. all the down sides of a middie, with the smog requirements of an SC. I base my point on California smog requirements. you could prolly have the 3.o/3.2L exhaust system crossover cat included & have few smog attendants know the difference with the implanted 3.2. or would they? the air pump, EGR would be something the 3.2 could not fake.

but when a 75 is free & clear that's hard to cope with. that's gotta be worth a solid -$5k in California...

That's because there really are not many.

There are very few midyears that survived.

Great looking car....... IMO $35,000 to $40,000 if properly converted and rust free......

Is that the proper mirror for a 76..... I would prefer the chrome one.....

Very nice color IMO. I see why you like it, but I would say maybe a $30k car with the motor swap. It will never be an original car, and that hurts the price.

For $49k, you can find a lot of cars to choose from. This 76 wouldn't make my list.

By 76 they were all flag mirrors.

That car is a gorgeous color but overpriced by about $10k. They are asking 74 money for a 76.

Hmm. I wouldn't trade for mine straight-up. ( See my recent post for relevance.)

Clearly overpriced. I'd be in the mid 30's but once again, just so many details missing (and pics) that the unknowns are killing any decision making process.

Love the color. Forget the smog requirements as we have none in NY. A 3.2 should scream in that car, but when was it put in, who put it in, what shape is it in and of course the big one, how's the rust?

Seems like as good an excuse as any to get out of this weather and fly to Florida for a few days!

Merry Christmas!

I know it not a 76 but it’s a data point.
