Anyone know this car?

Apparently it was in an accident yet has a clean title, no salvage. Must be something very wrong for that price tho?

Porsche Crest

I'm sure you have seen their add text, my understanding is that if there was a minor accident like small dent, broken rim, minor suspension damage or something of mechanical nature like that they wouldn't give much info on the Car fax. Have you tried to contact them?

"THis 1992 Porsche 911 Turbo is in good shape and has been recently serciced. We had both bumpers were re sprayed and cleaned up when we got it in. It does show an accident on the carfax report but we do not have any information on that. Overall it runs great. The A/C also is not blowing cold. Everything else seems to be working properly incuding the the sunroof. We welcome any 3rd party insections.
WE DO REQUIRE A $500 DEPOSIT VIA CREDIT CARD OR CASH IN PERSON WITHIN 24 HOURS AUCTION OR LISTING CLOSE. WE DO NOT ACCEPT PAYPAL."

Unless the car is totaled there is no reason why it wouldnt have a clean title

Reporting of accidents vary state to state. I know if an example, an SUV that was titled as a salvage in Maryland and then another state later titled it with a clean title. These two states did not freely exchange vehicle records,

These threads are hilarious. The OP never posted a price of the car, and I still do not know the price of the car. The eBay listing has no price, it says SALE PENDING in the original listing, so really people should post the price.

Calm down dude. The listing was live when I posted it, and the sellers website also where the price is/was listed. Within a day or so they got a deposit and took the auction down.
I called and the idiot I spoke to said they had a deposit, I asked about the accident history and he said, "I have no clue I just know its a really clean car".
So I hung up.

Let's see, they've been selling on eBay since 1999 with 100% feedback, sold the car (or at least got a deposit) within a day. I'm not sure this makes them such an "idiot". Many times, the smaller dealers get cars wholesale from larger dealers who took them in trade (but don't want to keep them for retail) with no records or history. All they can go by is the Carfax. Can't really fault them for not knowing the history of the car...

Furthermore, Carfax only gets a report if insurance was involved. On more than one occasion I have fixed a car out of pocket instead of getting insurance involved. I wasn't being shady or trying to hide something. The nature of the accident just didn't justify having the accident on my personal insurance history. If I have a $1000 deductible and get in a $1500 accident I might just fix it myself to avoid having my rates go up $100/mo for the next 3 years.

Pretty sure they were asking $69,995. Sounds about fair value since it was banged up. The car looks rough even with those weird dark studio style photos.

True, and if he had no specific knowledge of the accident, I would have expected him to say something like...well we’ve had it on a rack, frame is fine, no tub damage we could find etc etc. small dealer or not, no one buys a car with accident history and doesn’t at least give it a thorough look to make sure it wasn’t bent to ****.
Water under the bridge I guess, looks like it’s sold now.

It's not always that simple. Years ago I had a '68T I was selling. I knew little before my ownership. When I went to sell it the buyer sent in professional to do a PPI on it and inspect it. We both looked it over together. We didn't see anything.

The buyer gets the car shipped to LA and starts teardown for bare metal windows out respray. Then it became obvious it had been hit on the driver side and poorly repaired. But paint on the car we couldn't tell. It was a bad repair, but even a bad repair can be good enough to be invisible.

Agree, you can only do some much reasonable diligence before it becomes cost prohibitive and in most cases, a waste of time. Sounds like in the case you mentioned, you did all you could do and then some - caveat emptor.
In this case, the car in question. I just thought the seller might have been a bit more knowledgeable about the current condition notwithstanding the accident. Not surprising though dealing with independent dealers hence the reason why I lost interest very quickly.
