Marketplace Discussion: Panamera
Ok....... I want one.
(I realize there are many great cars out there but this is my time for a Panamera) Choices: A series 1 low mileage GTS or an 2018 4S Gran Turismo. Discussion points..... How do they age? Are there service issues? Do they eat tires or brakes? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORQUKgDpabk Last edited by Macroni; 03-25-2018 at 06:21 AM.. |

1) Likely pretty well. It’s a Porsche so expect high build quality. My limited experience in a Panamera had me wanting it more than a MB.
2) New design? Haven’t been following but don’t remember seeing a Panamera station wagon before. That’s what it looks like to me. Not meant to be insulting. If it’s all new, I would expect some teething issues and Macan loaners from Porsche Mainline or Don Rosen. A friend of mine is currently going through a long term repair during a lease and is frustrated with driving a lesser loaner car. 3) Yes for tires. Front brakes (and rotors) will last about 25k, rears around 50k. Depending... I would not consider that “eating” anymore than common ware and tear. Pot holes in Philly? Plan on a few bent rims.

The early models suffer from front end noises, basically bushings twisting in UCA/LCA housings is the cause. New parts have different construction. Air suspension compressor relay can stick causing compressor to burn out. PDK seal for front shaft can leak. Front bumper cover has to come off for servicing air filter.... Solid cars for the most part.

Love the new Turismo but can't stomach the depreciation on these cars. I'm in the same boat considering an older GTS or turbo. Prices have dropped significantly on the turbo and I think that's where I'm headed

Words of wisdom right here. I would go this route at as well looking at the pricing. There are bargains to be had - and extreme savings here if you are smart and careful. They all look quite similar to me, and I'd rather save the $50K or more.

If depreciation isn't a concern, definitely the new Grand Turismo. Better car/newer technology. Both cars in general are reliable like all modern Porsches. I don't think the gen 1 is aging well. Never a fan of the styling, however the GTS is best looking of the series.

Depreciation really isn't a concern..... I agree with the new car being better looking. Love the Station Wagon Aspect of the Pana GT. Test drove a low mileage 2013 GTS years ago. Did not compel me to pull the trigger. |
