Understood Adam. I get it. But...

Dandy schmandy. The "I'm a racer boy" mentality is just dumb wannabe stuff. A large majority of these cars and their owners never even pass a race track, much less drive on one. I understand WHY the coupes are more popular, I just don't agree with their illogical reason to not buy Cabs.

911 Cabs will come into their own...someday.

First 911 I ever drove was an 89 930 cabriolet in triple black. Was my boss’ car. He was a retired body builder turned auto broker. Nobody thought he was a dandy.

You have to be careful applying traditional Porsche trends to the water cooled cars. They are making thousands upon thousands more 996/997 etc than they ever made of 911's and 356's. As time goes on there will be more and more of the water cooled cars that will drop like flies when people decide it isn't worth fixing them, and I bet the cab's will be dropped first.

I hear this over and over from people NOT in the water cooled service business. My customers who service Caymans, Boxsters, Carreras and Cayennes are making good money, and people even pay to fix a $10k Cayenne because contrary to internet rumour they are all quite reliable robust vehicles.

Yeah, but I'm already seeing a lot of no motor or popped motor 911's that are very cheap on ebay, mostly cabs.

Chalk and cheese. Nobody had brought up water cooled Cabs. Totally different animal and conversation.

For the record, I've been a P car dandy several times. Love me a cab.

A lot of the popped motors get repaired and flipped. Or a V8 swap. 996 and 986 sorta kind of get treated like a 914 where a guy becomes a Boxster guy. Got a friend in VA who usually has 3-4 in play. He races them. He rebuilds them for resale. Sometimes he Parts them. Lots of guys like that keeping the hobby alive.

The guy marked it sold before I could go take a look. That, and the wife said I had to finish restoring the 911 I do have. Beginning to think the $6700 he was asking was a bargain.
