Crazy Pricing on FUCHS
Ok what am I missing here? Why on earth would this set of Fuchs go for so much money on BAT?

Because BaT members don’t realize there’s anywhere else to buy things apparently. That isn’t the only set of Fuchs that sold for ridiculous money on BaT. Maybe these buyers are getting hit over the head with a BaT before bidding, which knocks the sense out of them.

Here's one guy hoping wheel prices go insane. Maybe I can build a larger wheelhouse. Or maybe more dumpster diving.

Really? Where would you find a dumpster of Fuchs?

I guess some people must think these old wheels aren’t worth a Fuch, so they toss them out.

Like a lot of things on BaT, they were a 'special Ltd edition', in that they were only available for a short time on an expensive auction site...
Don't worry though, the buyer didn't pay $6300 for them. They had to add shipping and auction expenses, so probably much closer to $7k than perhaps they would like. Not much less than I paid for my '75 project, with a set of these at each corner. ![]() Fuschs being dumped? Bigger question is, why would someone throw that guy away? Okay, he looks like a mid-miles model, but with a little wash, brush up and detailing, would be easily workable for a chunk over minimum wage (though looking at his overalls, might be expensive to run, as he seems to have an expensive hobby). ![]()

They were not that special of a wheel and went for over twice the normal price. The value of original in excellent shape is much more than restored. There was a 73 T that sold recently for over $300.000, Original and in Excellent shape. A restored T by the best would have never approached that price. |

Nice original wheels but date stamps are not correct for any really valuable car, no idea why someone would pay that much for those wheels. Congrats to seller!

They probably own a 77 C3.

Beat me to it. They would have been correct and I was watching for that reason but the price went nuts. When do you ever find un-restored perfect condition Fuchs and considering no one can apparently restore them properly besides Weidmann(I have not seen his work in person) they have a lot of value. FYI there would have been a strong possibility that Fuchs on a ‘77 Carrera 3.0 would have been 16”
