How much is my '74 911 worth??
Hi all, I have to sell my car and I am having a hard time at taking a step back and have an unbiased opinion. Can you guys let me know how much you think its fair to expect? I would appreciate it if you PM so I can get the most un-biased answers. I will gather all the answers and post them (along with the care) a week from now.
Are you ready to take on this challenge? here are some details: I own a 1974 coupe/no sunroof with 116k miles. Its pretty darn clean, the entire was completely redone. An independent appraisal rated it Excellent (minus) in an independent appraisal for my insurance company. I have a detailed documented history of the past 9 years, here are some highlights: SSIs Exhaust Dansk sport muffler, single outlet Carrera chain tensioners Aluminum banana arms Bilstein sport shocks (recent) Turbo tie rods (recent) New Sachs clutch New clutch cable New shift coupler bushings Rebuilt 75 S engine, with Case Savers & Turbo Valve covers Leak down numbers 2.5 to 3.5 % Pertronix Ignitor (Ignition Points Eliminator) & complete tuning (recent) Transmission rebuild 20K miles ago Wheel spacers Steering wheel by Dallas Custom Steering Wheels (Dallas Custom Steering Wheel) Excellent repaint Radio delete however wiring and automatic antenna in place Rebuilt CV joints Rebuilt interior (down to bare metal) H4s New rubber bits where called for Halotron II fire extinguisher 16 Fuchs wheels with new tires (Continental Extreme Contact DW) Full set of LLoyds floor mats Spark plug wires (recent) CoA changed rear torsion bar bushings and plate & lowered to outlaw specs Scrupulously maintained in general with large folder of receipts & File of 500 + photos of work done The minuses: - Not a matching number (75 911s engine in a 74 911) - Not the original color. Current color is meteor Gray Metallic (color code 961/Y5) while the factory color is Gazelle Metallic (Gold) - Some imperfections, minor blemishes in paint and body but it remains very presentable - curb rash on the front left rim - ding on front right fender - 2 minor oil leaks (rubber to/from oil cooler and passenger timing chain cover) so, how much would it be FAIR to ask and get in order for this to be a win-win type of deal? Any accident history? Sounds like no rust. Location?
A fair price? Forget that, put it on Bring a Trailor, you’ll get way more than expected. I have no idea on price. Nice car though.

Retail is between $35-40K. Adjust for how quickly you want it sold.

Throw that bad boy on BAT no reserve and let it rip. You'll should get $40k +. Nice car.

Looks really clean. $40k ish. You could probably get $45k on BAT.
A quick sale would be $35-38k.

I'm confused. Is this D's older brother?

What flares are on the back of that thing? Doesn't look like Carrera, but could be optical illusion with the fender guards

Think an investment in PDR on the P/S front fender might be good especially as it looks in the video like you fly over it.
Cracked dash, replacement speedo face, can't tell if the car has flares added, i think it does, can you say how they were done ? Its a classic 80's update to the simplicity of the 74. I think 40k is a reach but then again I'm amazed at how the BAT buyers are willing to pay seemingly absolute top retail on what are ordinary cars, that have been well photographed.

Nice car. I'd say $30K. I'm betting lower since '74s are now collectible and one that isn't really a narrow-'74 is going to take the hit. |

Id say 30-32k based on a mid year a friend just bought thats super super clean with a 3.2, sport seats and still narrowbody. Just my opinion.

Oh, and my real answer is $36k if you just make an ad. Ask $40k and expect $36k. On BaT it might clear $40k.

This is a non-sunroof coupe that will bring a bit of a premium. I say it gets to $39k on BaT with good pictures and an engaged seller.

And a premium if in California, due to the car not requiring smog... $38-$42k.

thanks for all your replies and PMs, currently tallying the results.
quick answers to your questions and comments: - it's not a carrera, it's a '74 911 with a '75 911s engine. - no accidents and no rust - NO flares, it's original narrow body. just had it lowered. I took a few pictures this morning ![]() |

Wow, it must be an optical illusion with those black stone-guard stickers you have on there. It still looks flared to me and I have a '75. Even looking at the back it looks flared to me, but it must be the color...

1974 is the first year of what they call 'G-Model' ...which is wider than pre-1974/long hood but definitely slimmer than 930s. don't get me wrong, I wish it had a fat arse but this one is all steal and stock. It does however has some wheel spacers and that shark fin rock guard definitely contribute to the beefier look

rear flares were the same from '69-77. '74-77 has the same rear fenders as the LWB cars. the SWB cars may have been a little different. '78 brought the SC and wider rear fenders.
this car looks like it has SC width flares, hard to tell. what size rear wheels and tires are you running?...
