Bat - ‘76 930

Simply stunning ice green metallic. Original paint at that. Love the comments on ride height; seller at least has a sense of humor.

Great car. The more modern sidewalls on those P Zeros give the car the extra safari height look. Quick fix.

Nice car. Interior color is too light for my taste but I’d still own it.

The previous owner as proven himself to be a greedy and pathetic individual and I retract any compliments given.

Why anyone would leave the ride height/stance like that is really out there - who gives a shiit if that's how it was delivered (and not by the Porsche designers' or mechanics' choice, either), as it looks so awful that it basically destroys the appearance of the car. I consider that car abuse and feel humiliated for the poor thing - the owner/owners should be castrated so as to not pollute the motoring enthusiast gene pool!

Easy fix is down to the skill level of the buyer (or his willingness to pay someone else to do the work), Specialityoneinc - remedying that crime against humanity will require re-indexing the torsion bars, or installing monster truck tires and calling it a day.

I agree the BAT cars stance looks horrible. If it had the correct tires it would look a little better or US period correct . If I was the buyer, it would be fitted with new shoes and proper Euro height before I even drove it.

Here's how it should look with the correct sized tires.

That’s exactly what I said on BaT...drop it to euro ride height and it brings more money. It’s stupid to list this car looking like that. It looks like BHCC got a hold of this car. Isn’t that about the proper ride hight for any 930 that rolls out of that shop? 😏

I tried to voice my ‘strong’ opinion on BaT regarding the ride height and correct tire fitment to no avail. My comments were not posted due to them being ‘nonconstructive.’ Duly noted, no way this car should’ve been driven, let alone sold with those tires. The seller says he has multiple Porsches and didn't drive it much. He also says his mechanic, which is the ‘best in the country’ put the correct sized tires on the car. Nobody could read the engine compartment tire decal? Ugh. As a owner of ‘77 ice green 930 I’m curious on the results. I believe it will not meet its reserve. A little work to this car and it would’ve been a good candidate for the auction houses. Regardless, its a very nice car.

Looks way better in that pic you posted, SpecialOne!

I guess it is one of those silly, first world problem things to get riled up about the ride height, but I'm with JM935 (not like THAT ); who even offers a car, much less something special/super expensive like a 1976 Turbo, looking like a daddy longlegs on stilts?

Phatt, I bet you're right, butt what kind of a numbnutz takes "for sale" pics without first driving the thing to settle the suspension back to Baja instead of Paris-Dakar height? Weird!

The usual peanut gallery both here and there. Unreal.

The car is mine. Thanks for the kind words on how I'm handling the masses (Jabberwocky and 1979-930). It's been an experience.

The car was serviced and the height adjusted by Steve Henry at Eagle Racing. Yes, one of the very best air-cooled Porsche specialists in the country. The car was setup to compete in Preservation Class concours and after multiple conversations with my factory and archive contacts, I'm confidant that the ride height is adjusted correctly (and numerous others, some who have seen the car in person, agree with me on BaT in the comments). I also have access to a 7k-mile original '76 car that sits similarly. If you don't agree with me, that's fine, don't buy the car. If you do by some chance buy it, you can set the ride height however you choose. It's irrelevant.

The hood/fender are aligned just fine. It's a 42 year old car. I have dozens and if anyone thinks the panels on these cars are always aligned to the millimeter they're sadly mistaken.

The car is exceptional. If anyone would like to see it, it's available for viewing in Austin, TX.

According to his posts on BAT he is selling a few cars to free up funds for something very special.
I hope he shares what that "very special" car is when he gets it.

Oh well I'll go out on a limb and give my take. This car is a more desirable year, color and options than the 77 silver / black turbo Carrera with less miles recently sold on BAT ( although it was not anyway near this car condition). So unless there is a new mindset of a new buyer(s) It may not even get the amount the other one sold for ( $129K ). ie; one family owned less miles is the force with the BAT buyers when selling with pictures. My guess I made was it selling for $130K and it sold for $129K along with 2 earlier guesses on 930s that were also very close. I hate to destroy my peanut gallery current streak with a guess on what this will bring. All I know that it will not get anyway near on BAT what it would get in prime time @ a major event @ Monterey or Scottsdale. I think it is a $200K car to the right buyer once a few things are returned to 1976 build for those who need it that way. Also, I have a very nice unrestored 77 ice green ( part of my permanent 930 collection) also well known to PCA as it was previously owned by the Gilmore museum family,( headquarters of the Classic car club of America) so I'm interested in the outcome from BAT but will not mark the result as much of a benchmark.

Mine also suffers from the upper area of the whale tail being somewhat faded and the right rear rubber bumper bottom was slightly warped from excessive heat ( I since replaced the rubber bumper guard with a perfect original) but am leaving the paint original as is, similar to the decision made on the 76 being discussed. This leading to criticism from some that are are not familiar with the US delivered turbo carrera cars, that the car had paint repair. That usually happens ( unless you drive it like grandma in her Chevy 4 door) from the poor original exhaust system and thermo reactors overheating also causing engine failure by breaking the head studs.

More to free up space rather than funds... but, yes, I'm chasing something (two somethings, actually) very special. Fingers crossed.

I figured but man these guys are crazy these days giving phone numbers and going long ways to scam people.

I sent him a text and he said he will call me when he has a chance.

Going to have fun with it.

Good luck on your sale. Car is minty.

Surprised this is not getting more action. $102K with only a few hours left. It can’t be the color that’s off putting, it’s simply incredible, and original. Plus sport seats. Has the 930 market cooled that much?

If Maninblack set the reserve @ $100K, someone is fixing to get a SMOKING deal.
