912E Reassembly Sequence

All the exterior panels were removed for a repaint of my 76 912E. What sequence would you recommend for attaching the doors, front hood and fenders for easy of assembly and to get the gaps correct?

Have you replaced the fuel filter? It may be all gummed up from the old fuel. The L-jet has a cold start injector (at least the 912E has one). Is yours functional? Did you get it cleaned?

I can't help you on engine fit or rotation (I have a Type IV, 912E, which will take a Corvair engine), but I would think getting 300 HP out of a Corvair engine would be, to say the least, optimistic....

I had similar issues with my '76 912E. Check/bypass the ground wires in/near the headlight buckets. My car had bad grounds in this area and once cleaned up the problem went away.

Paul, I'm glad it's coming together for you!!! I'm guessing the replacement of vacuum lines made the biggest difference...any vacuum leak in the Type IV & L-Jetronic will vastly change engine...
