Where are you located? You could also try to find a used unit on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market. I do believe we have a few tranny gurus on the forum here. I'm not sure if they do work on 996 P cars, but try posting a thread in the 911 tech section here: Porsche 911 Technical Forum - Pelican Parts Technical BBS and see if anyone can direct you to a Pelican forum member that does rebuilds.

If you need help with the removal of it or anything else be sure to check out our articles for the 996 transmission here: Porsche 911 (1998-2012) Technical Articles - Porsche 996 & Porsche 997 - Pelican Parts.

Thank's a lot Luccia, I'm located in Canada. I already checked your technical section for DIY's and it is very useful for guys like me. I will try to post another thread in the 911 forum you told me. Maybe I'll be more Lucky.
Thank's again

GBOX did my 1999 C4 G96/31 in Nov 2011. I've put 75,000 on it since then. No problems. All highway miles.
They did decide to replace the ring and pinion for an extra $1500 (used parts) without checking with me. That hurt the budget and was a surprise.
But it did have to be done.

Congratulations you're the first to confirm on the whole web that a C4 transmission can be rebuild

I searched and asked and nothing. Thank's a lot

Did they say they found Porsche magic bearing inside at the bottom of the tranny too?

May I ask the totsl amount of invoice?

I pulled and shipped the tranny and replaced the clutch set and RMS at the same time.
The gear oil and sump looked like thinned never-seize when I first drained it to check on the rumble that was getting louder.

get a big pile of money to get started:-)
If you can, do the clutch, RMS, IMS, and some people might recommend the AOS at the same time.

Give GBOX a call and check with CaliforniaMotorsports, also. It's been 5 years and prices change.

By the time I turned the key and drove again it was over $6000, rebuild and ring and pinion, shipping, clutch, gear lube, tools...

Fun job, it's been worth it.

Thank's for these infos. I plan to change clutch kit, IMS, Rms, spark plugs ans spark plugs tubes, oïl separator, serpentin belt rollers beside the tranny job. I use to do all work myself
