Ya know, I've always wondered why I can't use my front defroster without it being at full blast.
Say for example, I've got the heater running at the lowest fan setting & the windows start to fog. As soon as I pop on the defroster button, the fan increases to it's fullest setting. Then if I try to reduce the fan speed, the defroster goes off. Am I missing something, or is this how BMW intended the unit to work? It kinda seems dumb that you couldn't have the defroster on at a lower setting.

Actually, that is the max defroster button. The "get it gone right now" button.
There is another button in the climate control that directs air upward toward the windshield. I believe it's over on the left side of the climate controls, along with the buttons for the floor and the dash outlets. This, I believe, uses whatever air is available from the fan and directs (some of) it up toward the windshield. --DD
