TIP: What you DON'T want your RSM's to look like

for those of you who have heard talk of rsm's (rear shock mounts) going bad but didn't understand what was being talked about, here are pics of my pass side rsm before recently swapping out with new ground control units.

for those of you who have heard talk of rsm's going bad but didn't understand what was being talked about, here are pics of my pass side rsm before recently swapping out with new ground control units.

Bad RSM top view

Bad RSM bottom view

notice how the rubber surrounding the metal inner sleeve has cracked and is beginning to come apart. over time this would have completely separated from the rest of the mount and caused some bad clunking and eventually sm damage. you can also see that from the bottom view, the rubber surround has pretty much cracked throughout the entire circumference of the inner sleeve.

this is the kind of wear you are looking for if you want to inspect your rsm's. very necessary maintenance. let me also add that just checking one side isn't enough... if you just inspect one of them assuming that the wear will be even on both sides, you may be sorry later. my driver side rsm was completely intact.

just thought i'd share for those who were curious about what to look for...

jared, they are just shock mounts and don't provide adjustability for camber.
