looking at buying my first BMW, 1993 BMW 328i

OK, I just thought of coming here, as I've never bought a BMW before. I am looking at getting my first and have decided between 3 different 328i's. the one I am most interested in has 189,000 miles on it, but I test drove it, it runs smooth as anything and the engine is pretty damn quiet. It has the straight 6, i didn't know this, and has the performance chip according to the guy and a performance exhaust as well as H&R springs. My main question to you guys is do BMW's with that many miles still have significant life left on them?? will it last me throughout untill next summer? I appreciate any advice you give me in advance.

There's PLENTY of life left after 189,000. My car still runs like a champ and it has 163,000. I would be very weary about buying a car thats been modded - usually that means that its been driven hard. While our cars can stand being driven hard - its always best to find an unmolested example so you can personally molest it yourself.

Also - there is no 1993 328. From 1992-1995 there was the 325. From 96-98, there was the 328. Its best to go and get the car checked out by a mechanic before you buy it - they can easily check for potential problems. BMWs are pretty reliable - however there are several little quirks that you have to watch out for or else it becomes VERY VERY expensive to bring it back to spec.

I was searching and found that out as well about there not being a 328 until 1996. He said it is a 328, but maybe he mistyped it as 325. I drove it and it ran very nice. It's really pretty clean, just a few small scratches which i could fix easily at the bodyshop at school. but asides that I am contemplating getting either the BMW or a 95 Mustang GT. ehh, not soo sure yet.

also, what are some typical things that would go bad on these cars that do cost significantly more than other cars??
