kick down switch
I'm trying to disconnect the kick down switch on my 94 325IC to try to diagnose a torque converter lockup problem. At first it seemed like it would be an easy enough task because the switch is easy to access. The problem is that I don't know if the wire disconnects at the switch itself or if I have to follow the wire and disconnect it at the other end. The wire goes under the carpet and disappears so I don't know where the other end is. Has anyone ever removed the kick down switch before and if so can you tell me how it is disconnected.
Thanks Mike |

Doesn't it just snap into the area under the pedal (can't quite recall)...

I know how to remove the switch itself but I don't know how to disconnect the electrical wire. I appreciate your reply Wayne but after looking into it a little further I decided that that isn't the problem anyway. If you recall I was having the transmission problem with the torque converter lock up. I don't know for sure but I believe that the converter itself is the problem and must be replaced. Either that or the solenoid is bad but based on the symptoms I think it's the converter. Still researching to find out for sure.
Thanks Mike |

You were going to try to replace the throttle switch, right?

That was me. I did replace the TPS without success but at least I've eliminated it as the problem. Maybe you can tell me what the best source of technical info would be for the automatic transmission on this car. Most manuals say to take it to a qualified BMW dealer for transmission problems but there must be a good technical reference for detailed info on transmission operation and a good wiring schematic
