how do i fix this problem with my cap and rotor
ok so here is the problem, i took off my old cap and rotor yesterday, and the rotor seems to be sparking at the bottom of the posts in the cap, you can actually see where some of the plastic on the cap has been burned/melted because of it, i pulled the rotor and cap out of another car i have and put it in this car (86 325e, same car as i have the problem with the glowing exhaust mainifold, hoping this is the problem), but the same thing happened again, the rotor seems to be "sitting" too high....any ideas on this one? will a new rotor and cap fix the problem, i am not so sure about this because i took a rotor and cap off a perfectly running car and it still missed the posts inside the cap....thanks for the help

I would make sure you indeed have the correct cap. Sounds like it is not correct. Can you get the part numbers off them? I can cross check for you.
