320i '83 running problem

My problem is the car won't take over 2500 rpm after running for 2-3 minutes. If I push the trottle hard it won't take over 1500 rpm before the engine coughs and cut out. Any suggestions to which direction I should look for the problem?

I suppose my next question would be is it a E30 320i or an E21 320i. Keep in mind we never got the 320i in E30 form in the states...

Sounds some what similar to the problem I have on my US 320i Basically it was sitting a while and I couldn't start it althought I had good spark. I had good fuel pressure from all fuel pumps, accumulator, and fuel filter. Found ou the cold start valve was not firing. Basically I manually connected it tot he battery and the car starts. But if I give it any more than a tiny bit of throttle it will stall. The throttle increses the RPM a little. Not sure onth RPMbecuase my Tach, and temp gauge arenot working. I'm wondeirng if some relays or wiring are messed up. Anyway, good luck to you.
