idle control valve problem??
My car is a 318i M44 engine 1997 model, it was running alright except for a slight rough idle in the morning but improves after heating up. Idecided to clean the ICV after reading a thread about the subject. I took it our following the procedure as described in the book, clean with WD 4 took out some of the sludge andput it back. Started initially then dies, afterwards it will not start anymore, it cranks but sems to have no fuel coming to the combustion, no firing. What could be the problem. Please give me your piece of ideas....Thanks

Finally solved the problem, which is a wet wire harness, due to my cleaning fluid, no current was flowing probably. The car is running smoothly and the cleaning chores I did cured my idling proble.
For you out there who wants to try cleaning the ICV, it is not a really difficult job andhelps the car a lot, just remember, after cleaning all those soots, make sure that you dry the unit and the harness before reinstalling. You dont even have to remove the vacuum hose as suggested. Replace the sealing gasket though.Hopes this help... |
