Having Trouble Programming Alarm Remote
Hi, it's a e36 318i 98 factory alarm. I already have one remote for the car that works fine. I am trying to add another, but can't get the darn thing to go into programming mode. I used the instruction from the alarm manual trunk open cycle car on etc... and the horn does no sound a chirp nor does the led stay lit to program. This is the same programming instructions I found on the forum.
Is there any special tips or tricks to do the programming that anyone else has experienced? thanks |

Right - the article above *does* work, as I wrote it, and did it for my cars.
That said, if your door lock switches are faulty or not working properly, then you might have problems with the procedure. These are the switches that are located in the electronic lock assemblies, and often fail with age... -Wayne

Ok so since all my actuators work I shouldn't have trouble with the alarm install concerning door switches correct.

No, you can have the switches not working properly and the doors still locking. Signs of problems would be:
- alarm not arming properly - windows not going up or down when the door is opened / closed on coupes - gauge cluster blinking problems - door chime going off when the door is closed etc... -Wayne
