M20 Main bearings - order problem & solution?
(I didn't include my model and year because the car is a collection of models and years, but basically a e30 with 1990 "I" block and head, 1987 "e" crank, 1988 super eta pistons and rods)
Hi I ordered the late model (two tang) standard bearings on my Pelican order 1169923671-780. I only received 13 bearing half shells which I didn't discover until I I was installing the last set. ( I didn't bother calling customer service as no one would have believed me) The one that I was missing was a non-thrust, block side half. I did have a new complete bearing set for the early block (one tang) for another future rebuild. The block side halves looked identical between the sets except for the early block set seems to be a coated bearing versus the later block set which looks uncoated and the later set seems to have the oil holes slightly more chamfered. My question is whether I can substitute the early block blockside bearing into the later block so I can button this thing up. Are the early block bearings coated and the later bearings uncoated or did I get a set that besides being a bearing short was in fact defective? Last edited by redmist; 02-12-2007 at 08:33 AM.. |
