Security system problem, won't start?

I was working on my 1994 325ic and let the battery run down. After I charged the battery it won't start. It turns over strong, but acts like it isn't getting spark. Could this have something to do with the security system? It seems to want to start. It has gas at the rail, the plugs don't look too good (changing them tomorrow). Also, I pulled to cover off the coil wires (next to the fuel rail) and there is a ground (brown wire I believe) that enters the radiator end of the wiring and has a "lead block" area that is melted away. This isn't normal, is this some sort of fusible like? It has a good ground on the "in" side of the wire but almost no ground on the side that goes to the main wiring pack. Please advise.

I had a similar problem on my 94 325ic. It turned out to be the computer. You need to unplug and then replug it, and it should work.

Do I need to hook the battery back up before I plug/unplug the computer?
