Spark from coil to distributor, but not to spark plugs

Wondering if anyone knows why Im getting a spark to my distributor cap, but not to my spark plugs. I have a E30 1988 M3. Car wont start, fuel pumps run when starting, but Im not getting anything to my plugs. Replaced cap and rotor 4 yrs ago and only put 20k miles on it. Cant figure out why car wont start! any help??

Danny

Danny,
Check your spark plug wires! You will likely find the problem there.

The spark plug wires are magnecor and are about 3 1/2 yrs old, no cracks. Car was running fine, then sputtered on the road. Towed the car home and started the next day backed it out of the driveway and died. Car turns over but doesnt start. Im thinking it might be my ECU gone bad. ..

Im thinking it could be a bad distributor cap. Pulled the thing off, no cracks, looks clean. Turned the engine over and rotor is turning. Im off to get a new cap and rotor and see if that fixes it.....cross my fingers.
