I've replaced the crankshaft position/RPM sensor and the spark plug wires with the pulse sensor. The two leads from these sensors, along with the oil pressure sender line run from the passenger side of the engine to the driver's side through a plastic cover which is clipped to the upper timing belt cover and located behind the water pump pulley. Would anybody have any photos or illustrations showing how these lines are positioned relative to other components? I like to think that there's a proper way to route these cables to minimize the risk of damage. Thanks, in advance. Last edited by rty; 01-30-2008 at 04:20 PM.. Reason: add model and year |

I got jammed up on this last summer too. Rather than removing the water pump pulley & maybe the rad. - not really that hard ,but - I ran across the top of the motor and got some protective wire cover - that kinky plastic stuff. There is a black metal piece just under the water pump pulley that channels the wire safely , in my case I didn't put it back on when I put the motor together. Tom

I think the pulse sensor is supposed to go over the engine passing through the hose clip. I am trying an alternate route that passes next to the two wires and next to the water pump. Not sure if the water pump will get too hot, or there may be electric interference. Any advice?

unscrew the water pipe and put the pulse sensor wire over the engine through the hose clip.
