A/c compressor problem

a/c compressor only runs if i hot wire it with 12v from battery...front electric fan must also jumped via wire in therm. plug...blower fans and everything else seem to work fine...whats up?

Might help if we knew what car it was for...

The problem is likely either the high or low pressure cutoff switch. Meaning you either have to much or too little refrigerant in the system.

Mark,
Do you have a wiring diagram for your car? If so, do you have a good digital meter?
I can help you diagnose the problem.
You have to start at the source and work through each component eleminating them as you go untill you find the one that is faulty.
Hard to do it without a meter and a map though.
