Out of curiosity, since metal expands when heated, why not simply remove the sensor just after a drive when the exhaust is hot. Yes you may burn yourself, but that's what gloves are for.
Will this work better? - I am about to attempt a sensor replacement after ordering one from Pelican Parts : __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: Pelican Technical Article: Replacing your 3-Series E30 Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor |

The sensor will expand in the hole as well as the mounting bung. Best to do it cold to protect the threads in the bung and yourself.
