Question on BMW 3-Series E36 O2_Sensor

Nick- Firstly, thanks for all your patience and help on Pelican Parts. I've used many of your articles and saved $$$ on maintenance service for my 95 318ti.

I'm not too sure if this is the appropriate place to ask this question, but here it goes.

Anytime that it rains light or heavy or when I wash my engine bay, or if there is moisture on the ground in form of puddles or just splash back from drivers ahead of me, the car goes into "handicap mode".

There is virtually no throttle response in the lower rpms. I have to pump the gas pedal in order for it to rev up so I look like an incompetent fool trying to start from 1st gear at a stop light.

If I am able to maintain rpm above 4500, everything works fine. Once the RPMs drop below 4500, I continually need to pump the pedal in order to get an ignition response.

Only code the DME throws is an oxygen sensor. Do you think a faulty Oxygen Sensor is to blame for such sporadic behavior?

Not likely that the O2 sensor would cause such a hesitation. I would start by checking for water intrusion, if that is the indicator of when the problem occurs. Check the E-box for water, if the DME is getting wet, it could cause your issue.
