Need Help on the Co2 Issue on my car it has been about 2 to 3 years that my Co2 states NOT READY but it Passes State Inspection. No Engine Light and No Fault Code. It's a 2004 525i and I would like to resolve the Issue.
I just don't know if to replace all 4 Co2 when the issue could just be one or if a Co2 is Disconnected, don't know were to start trouble shooting it. HELP Thanks

I think you mean O2 sensors are not ready. This could be an issue with the engine warming up too slowly or a bad DME.

If your '04 525 uses the same DME and coding as an '04 325, getting the DME to adapt to fresh oxygen sensors was a known problem. The solution was to re-code the DME with revised code. The problem with that was that this Siemens DME was known to often fail when being recoded. According to one factory bulletin that I read, BMW replaced a lot of them on warrantee when they failed to adapt to their original sensors and died on recode. If they fail to adapt to the second set of sensors, that is our problem. I recently had to buy a DME because mine failed when they tried to recode it.

My wife's '04 330i has been bulletproof other than one failed fuel pump and one window regulator. My '04 325i has been a never-ending series of expensive problems.
