Unhappy m3 ecm problems

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. I was driving my car(98 m3),sometime before the snow started flying here in mich.,and under light load the car started running rough. when i got home i started testing various things on the car and found the injector for cylinder 5 to be locked on. when key on start position is selected the injector locks on and stays on until the key is turned off. Not good! is there anyone that can repair these ECM's ? or has remanufactured units. it appears that the injector driver for cyl #5 is the only one with this illness. I am not sure where to turn with this problem but would really like to avoid the expense on a brand new factory ECM.

How exactly did you determine that the driver for the injector is the culprit? I highly doubt that the software or ECU is the problem here. I woud try replacing thr injector and see what happens..

i actually switched a few different injectors from other cylinders in that spot to make sure it was'nt the injector. i also went ahead and put all the injectors on a clean & flow machine since they were basically out anyway. i really don't know if it is the driver but have run out of things to test.
thank you for your prompt response. As a new member i am looking foward to being on this site alot if not with M3 questions than other german car inquiries.

So what you are saying is that every injector you put it the harness does the same thing?

Hmm.. havent heard of this before. I'd start checking ground points and connections. I highly doubt that the ECM program would be corrupted. I'd believe that if it was corrupted, that it would affect all the injectors, not just one. Have you done anything to the car that may have caused a spike?

I try to remind myself of Occam's Razor in these situations. "the simplest explanation is probably the correct one"
I'll bet this is something simple, like a connector or a loose wire.

It may even be possible that the wires for that particular injector may be shorted, causing the injector to stick open. I'd check the continuity on the injector leads and see what you get.

Check the continuity of the wire harness - there may be a short to ground...

Also check the computer for codes - it should trigger an output stage fault or an injector fault if it doesn't see the right resistance values...

Greetings gents,
First I must apologize for falling off the face of the earth. I was recently very ill for the past 3 weeks and was in no shape to trouble-shoot and or work on my car at all. I appreciate the feedback and I am going to start from square one and try all and any suggestions again. Of course the ave. temp in my non-heated (but soon to be) garage is just slightly above zero (I really need to move to a warmer climate). This will no doubt slow me down somewhat. I will definitely keep every one interested informed of my findings. Thanks again
