E30 Idle speed troubleshooting
Hi pelican, Ive got an 89 325is. Once the car gets up to temp it surges randomly when idling, and the throttle sticks open slightly when i clutch in. Would this be a sticky idle control valve or a bad throttle switch?

Likely the idle control valve, but make sure that your throttle linkages are free to move.

Page 27 of section 6 Bentley gives 6 items to check. With me its always a vacuum leak. A new valve cover gasket & tighten all the hose clamps may fix it.
