Has anyone seen this?

There's an aftermarket blown six intercooler on Ebay now with no bids that looks too good to be true. Has anyone noticed it, and what are your thoughts?

Ebay item # 333305220689

I must've missed the "too good to be true" part. Seems like a reasonable amount of money with bidding starting at $500 and based on the pictures, fits crooked in the bay.

So, then you wouldn't see it as a quality part for a 930? i'm still running a stock intercooler, and when shopping around for a full package I hit a wall at the $2400.00 mark, and that's okay - quality comes at a price - I've just never seen or heard of this company and didn't know without all other costs that come with piping this in - would it end up around $2400.00 and (being crooked in the bay) is it a good product.

Thanks

I was looking at that i/c and exchanged a few emails. I was going to buy it for my 930 bus, but it's slightly too tall, or I would have bid on it.

Do a search on Blownsix and you'll find there were mixed revues, as they're quality seemed to be hit and miss. That fact the seller had it setup on his 930 would imply if there where any fitment issues, they were addressed. The i/c appears to be about 2" longer and 1.5" taller than the 965 i/c. He was quick to respond and would take more photos if needed. No affiliation.

I’d buy that. I have full bay now and custom inlet but that’s a nice part.

You would be stealing it at $600, hell even at $1000 it would be a deal in my opinion.

I paid $1500 to have one built up. This is a bolt on to 930. Good deal yes

Blast from the past that is. Blown 6 was a start-up in the mid 2000's. A friend and I test fit a few items for them during development. Something in the company went sour and quality tanked, I assume they went out of business as I never heard any more from them.
None of the accessories are included with the IC such as that expensive 964T up-pipe hose. You also need an air dam, without it the IC is rather useless as no air will be going through it.

channels air through the cooler not around it, air will go around it if it can. Dam will make suire it goes through. It's a like an radiator shroud

I've always sweated not having an intercooler shroud ever since I went Kokeln years ago. But there was always something more pressing - or driving the car seemed like more fun...

I know it's needed/it'll work better, right?

Well, now I log intake air temps (sensor right in the outlet of the IC by the throttle body), I'm not so sure.

If I stop with the motor hot for a few minutes, intercooler heat-soaks 20-30 degrees C. Just driving along city streets for 3 minutes - heat soak gone.

Any freeway speed or moving == IAT reads ambient. Just sayin'....

I still intend to shroud it eventually - maybe it'll actually reduce temps further then? But I don't feel as guilty for not doing it as I once did...

Where do you have the temp sensors mounted?
I have one in the up pipe between the turbo and i/c. The other one is at the left rear of the i/c, next to the bov hose and w/g hose.

That'd be sweet to monitor drop across the I/C...

Mine is mounted in the I/C where the end tank forms a collar for the neck/outlet to the throttle body; sensor projects directly into airflow.

My Delco MAP sensors also have temp sensors built-in; don't think they're wired up though this doesn't seem like any loss, as I expect the 3 bar sensor would only mirror the intercooler sensor, and the 105 kpa sensor I use for baro would read engine bay temp.

Which I'm going to bet is just ambient a few seconds after the fan starts moving at speed...

I got a 964 IC off Chris (TK). Can't remember the cost, but with all the associated bits provided also it worked out a decent route to go as an upgrade to stock.

It will work decently well for 500+hp goal. It is long neck style.

They are heavy, crude and will require some updates to fit properly.

I would go with the TurboKraft kit and never look back. Pay for American Kraftwork!

Here was an old project from our Mode friend, Rob at Tuner Works, Calgary. That car ripped hard!
