Window trim
Why do some cars have chrome window trim and others don't? Mine has chrome front and no rear. Is that normal or did the PO remove the rear?

I've never seen a 930 with bright metal trim before. The rear window gasket may be one for a 964 as they didn't have the trim stuck in them.
You should be able to buy the black trim pieces or replace the windshield gasket with the 964 gasket if you want all black trim.

So I can use 964 seals front and rear with no trim?

Only if you buy the 964 front screen (glass) as well.
I have no idea about the back.

If you think it is too expensive you could always roughen it up, mask it and finally spray it with an aerosol.

You may be able to sell your chrome one. Pull out the screen with the trim intact. Pulling out the trim first renders the trim useless...

Well, according to PET, both chrome AND black were available from 1979 and down. I think I'll keep the front Chrome and look for a chrome rear to match. I've never seen it so I think I'll be different.

Here is a pic of tonypeoni's 1979 930. He has chrome front trim and black side. I'm waiting to hear back from him about the rear.

I have chrome front, rear, and I'm guessing sides as well (looks more like a brushed aluminum that has browned) on my 79 930.

Blk front and rear trim on 78 & 79 I believe was an option.. some cars had it some did not. Simplest thing to do is mask the car up, scuff all the trim with a scotch pad and spray it black. After scuffing wipe it down with prep-solv to remove any wax or oils. I would then use a zink chromate or etching primer to give the trim paint some bite. Wurth and couple others make very good trim paint. Check at an auto paint supply store. As far as the 964 trim goes.. I hear that the early seal and window ar the ones to use for the front. The rear seal should work on the stock 930 glass. Think I'm going down this road also when winter sets in again...very clean look. Paul
