If you have the clearance to run taller tires than 26" I'd go with MPS2's as the 345's are wider than my 355's, however they're just shy of 28" tall which won't fit into the fender.

I'll be sure to bring it to some of the Lone Star events when I'm in town, but I don't think the concours guys will appreciate the non-shiny paint, and customized everything. But who knows.

Don't sweat the paint---LSR doesn't worry about it being "as it came from the factory". That's not what it's about.....more of "how clean can you get it", than anything. Bring it anyway, contest or not.

First, I'm not a Turbo guy but have a question about the AirFuelRatio in this run: I see the AFR is very close to 14.0 for this run and in a non-turbo 3.2L this would be very lean at WOT. Is 14.0 AFR about right for the Turbo cars? and if so why leaner with a turbo?

Matteo: Sure thing, there will be a thread which I'll link to this thread about the trip. I'm so overjoyed with excitement and exhillaration - and i'm not even there yet!

A spot of bad news though, the car's custom brake hats are causing delay with the engineers - and the shop wants to shake the car down at willow springs. I might have to fly back to California to pick her up on the 1st of December, but either way there will be many detailed photos etc.

Don't worry we'll still be making the Drago event with Justin (JuiceRSR) on the 6th!

It sounds to me like they just want to run the BEAST on thetrack and call it a "shake down " haaha! Just messing... can't wait to see video and pics of you guys on the Dragon.

Okay the following pics show the car almost done, the rear brakes aren't on and we're rethinking the brake setup we started with. The rear deck isn't closed all the way so that's where there are gaps above the reflector panel.

The body guys were making some touch ups and minor cosmetic work when I was there, we were working on mirror placement etc.

The project won't be completed until February or so, but I'll keep everyone posted on the brake issues and what we end up going with.

Looking good! 993TT Big Reds with higher friction pad in the back - perfectly balanced and relatively affordable.
And it's red ;-) matches those gauges.

Thanks for the kind words guys, the shop is going to get video of the dyno sessions when the brakes are done etc.

Brian: Yeah not going to make the dragon in this car but i'm taking the BMW 550i, she's pretty tossable and fun.

Craig: Yes 993tt setup for idiot proof reliability and performance.

Although I was dissapointed that we weren't able to get her on the road this time - I do promise it will be worth the wait.

After a fresh build, going cross may have been a real adventure. Making sure all is in order and broken in will make for a more enjoyable ride long term.

Gabe, looking good and major wood. Actually kinda relieved that you aren't going to have to shake her down AND drive cross country at the same time. Thought it was a little ambitious, knowing how these cars can behave even under the best of conditions.

Glad that you are still coming to NC to check out the Drendel collection and make the run with the hard-core few through the mountains, even if it is in that other kinda german car;) (Hey, look on the bright side, at least you'll have heat!)

Anyway, you still get your t-shirt and and unlimited tequila shots at the bar Saturday night for getting safely back from Iraq and helping us all enjoy what we have here. Kudos and see you Sat morning at Zuffenhaus.

just noticed a lot of you are from NC. my husband & I did a road trip last july from Gettysburg (flew in from mn) all the way down to Atlanta. his niece lives near franklin, NC.. so we didn't get over to the dragon but went on some great twisty mountain roads. beautiful landscape there!!

We also had the adventure of driving down a tight twisty mt road in the rain...almost hitting a dog that darted out of the woods...then only to come upon a tree across the road...was interesting turning around a rental car w/ little visibility & no shoulder & a lonnnggg way down. ;)

back on topic...we also moved over for a porsche & bmw who were obviously on a drive...

It looks so darn mean. For some reason the rear wheels (to me) look like claws that simply can do nothing but hold on.

I am aware of the previous discussion, but... I have no knowledge of rear wings as such.
I do however have some knowledge about aerodynamics and forces acting on profiles etc. . What worries me are the "winglets"/sideplates on your wing. I am affraid some serious buffeting will occur. This could, if I am right easily make them snap off at high speeds. I am aware that the mounting point are on the forward part which is good, but still.

I hope I am wrong, but please pay attention during the first drives.

Thanks guys, now that we have some more time I'm planning on sending the wing setup to Crawford Composites and have them create a wing that is a single piece with aero shaped thicker winglets for better rigidity and less chance of fracture due to buffetting. I really think that's the only way I'll feel better about the setup.

Jesper if you want a hi res version of that pic shoot me an email or PM with your email address and I'll shoot it to you.

Mckenna: We're still going to use the wheel fans but they're going to be painted the satin black just like the body with the gold BBS letters.

Serge: I'll be comming man, just let me get her sorted and i'll be screamin' over in Germany.

As far as the rear wheels go, they fit as flush as I want them to due to the curvature of the outer of the rear quarter lip. We're going to lower the rear about another inch or so and stiffen it up so we don't want to have any type of contact.

Here's a good shot illustrating the tire shoulder and quarter panel curve dead on it looks like its inset too much, but from the slight right angel you can see just how much the rim sticks out and how the tire is maxed out:

I love both cars but the powerplant in Gabe's is simply MENTAL! in the best way! I would never turn my 930 off if it sounded like Gabe's... :) Id love to see video of Serge and Gabe hitting the RING..

Looks sensational, so glad you've shared the progress.

The interior looks a treat, purposeful yet welcoming, 1 inch lower at the back and.... perfect.
