Great looking car Nathan ! Cheers, |
15" rims and tires can look a bit too short on a wide-body car. You need to accurately photo shop those in before writing the big check.
If you do decide to use the 15s the Perillis will fit very well on the 11" rim. They are a bit more narrow than their Yokohama counterparts of the same size. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1192890052.jpg |
Well its either 15" or 17" to get a 335 on there. It pretty much boils down to what the guy who does the centers has.
|
I know what you mean. Wheel and tire choices suck for these cars.
|
Well I'm slightly understanding...given the tire sizes we're dealing with here are minimum 11" wide. :)
I for one enjoy these types of 'challenges' as it just means we're few of the few if ya know what I mean :) |
Interesting update guys, after talking with the wife she has convinced me to go all the way on the motor.
We're going to go with an EFI twin turbo setup along with the twin plug we were already doing. More updates on this later. This pushes the finished product back until May-June for completion. The bodywork & Interior will be totally done by January with many updates in between then and now. I just ordered a A.I.R. GTR tail & GTR winged rocker panels and for the top wing blade I'll be using a 70" predator unit from GT Racing. So I'll have the DP tail for when I don't want a lot of attention, and the GTR setup for when I want to go fast. |
Reaper ..saw your thread on this great project and recalled seeing your post on the 935 lolipop
seat Dave at TRE is selling.. If you'd like I have another I'm interested in parting with, project just doesn't have the staying power to see it all the way ! Your car is looking great it would be a nice period correct addition ..two 935 seats ..WOW! Let me know I'll send you a pic to,thanks Bert |
Parts:
Just had the best experience EVER with Mark Hargett @ Hargett Precision buying the 930 shift setup & linkage kit. Mark is really one of the best vendors I've ever delt with. Just purchased the aluminum floor panels, adjustable throttle/pedal kit from our wonderful host. Rebel Racing Products 911 R tail lights with LED's are on the way. I've been speaking with a guy in Germany about carbon fiber interior trim etc. I got his email from Rennlist on the 993tt board, he does quality stuff. The following pictures are what I'm purchasing from him, however my door panels will not have speakers. He speaks very little english but is a great guy, I believe he's the one that supplies FVD with their carbon parts. I'll keep everyone posted on how it goes. 935 Centerlocks

BBS Magnesium Rims
Okay gents - talked to the shop last night - the rear quarters are on the car - they're having problems fitting the rear bumper and front fenders due to lack of fiberglass on the part where it should be.
So needless to say waaaaaaaaay more work is going into them than was planned but that's the name of the game right? SO...the new addition for the week are the freshly procured GT3 carbon fiber seats in black alcantara & a set of 16 x 14 rear and 16 x 11 front magnesium centered BBS centerlock wheels! Purchased from Bob Barnes who happens to have quite a few things laying around  I'll be using AVON vintage tires, and Hoosier slicks but I might have to get new shells to upgrage to 17" diameter depending on tire availibility. I'll have new pics to update later in the week when new tires are mounted but here are the prelim pics! Later they'll be painted in the same satin black as the rest of the car and just might get the BBS wheel fans as well! Enjoy the vintage racer porn SmileWavySmileWavySmileWavySmileWavy http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1195014921.jpg |

My friend John Byrnes factory 1974 Jagermiester RSR actually made a full progression from RSR to 935 before John restored it back to original. At one time it looked exactly as your rendering... also just a heads up. If the races in the rear of your 935 hubs need to be replaced... they are about 1200 a piece if you can find them. Used to be a 30 dollar part but there are little or none left on the planet ! Unless you are using 935 suspension you would be better off using 934 hubs , an easier transition

Van,
Thanks for the heads up - the only ones I could find at the moment were the 935 setups. I'm planning on using full 935 suspension so when I do need to replace the races, I'll have to come up with something....... BTW I'm jealous of your collection :) |

But unless I am wrong you will need to use 935 front uprights with the 935 hubs. 935 uprights are about 5k a piece if you can find them. And if they are in Europe then with the Euro to dollar...more like 8k a piece. So minimum 10k to 16k based on what I have seen . I think you would really be better served to use 934/RSR hubs. |

Actually I can get away with having my existing strut housings modified by relocating the spindle (935 spindles) and some other work I'm not too sure of. The shop in California doing the work has a few 935's that come in for service and repair quite frequently - 935 parts are easier for me to get than 934 parts. The shop has also successfully put 935 centerlocks on a few normal 930's over the years.
Seeing as how this car will be 50/50 street and DE we're trying to still have her drivable on the street. The shop is by far the expert on the car and parts, I'm merely trying to educate myself as quickly as possible. I do know that due to the great reputation the shop has that I'm in very good hands. But these 934/RSR hubs you keep referring to, do you have a source for them? I thought them to be more rare than the 935 setup. Thanks for the input and assistance, I bow to you knowledge :) |
Rory, I can't access youtube, what is it a video of?
