I thought about cutting the bottom off mine but really want a pipe with silicone Transitions on both ends. If ya think you might have some time in the future, let me know. Les

I can offer to fab a few tubes on selfcost.
We bend and weld aluminium tubes often in my company. I already have idea how the tube can be made. Only I like to develop design and compare measurments with you. happy holidays Falk

The cone is similar Ben but you need to add the attachment points and angles on both ends.
If you have the time go for it!

Reviving from the dead
Thought I'd provide yet another update:
In a funny twist, I am now rocking the factory OEM 965 boost pipe that I acquired - the blue whale fleshy, Dirk Digler Kong, from post number 33 in this thread! I had to trim about 1.5" off the bottom (end that connects to the turbo) in order for my 965 intercooler to sit where I wanted it. Here's what I've noticed using the factory tapered pipe: the boost really comes on with even greater linearity than before. I mean the delivery, especially with the efficient K27HFS, is oh so smooth. I think my home made pipe was still allowing for some of that explosive "light switch" effect...which is really what I was used to feeling...perhaps that's why I thought I liked the home made straight pipe better?? At any rate, the kong stays on for now...

Yes, I catch your drift. Full boost still seems to come on about the same time. Perhaps it's the cone's ability to hold and transition more air that is causing me to feel this subtle change in drivability? Whatever the case, I'm liking more and more how smoothly it's all happening.

I was thinking more on the lines of threshold boost. Any difference there?

Ah. This is something I did not pay much attention to...as far as when the boost actually started to come on.

Thanks for this greatly informative thread. I just managed to install a 965 intercooler on my car. It wasn`t as difficult as I imaged. The hardest part was getting the pipes into the silicone. They were very tight. Also there is very little room to secure the clamp at the turbo. Lots of scraped knuckles. But wow!!! What a difference in performance!! I can hear the turbo whistling away all the time now. and the exhaust also seams deeper. But now I am getting occasional puff of smoke when decelerating with the engine. I wonder, has anyone tried hard plastic tubes instead of aluminium?
