AFR Gauge ideal application question
Wondering which AFR gage to use. I would prefer to have one with portability as I have a number of cars that need fine tuning. I was thinking, as opposed to installing one in each car, getting one and install a sensor bung in all and just running the connections to a unmounted read out gage, or are there any that has that capability with a clip on exhaust probe that does not cost a fortune. I noticed some for sale that advise use with unleaded fuel only. I am concerned with AFR at high boost with 100=+ octane leaded fuel. On some of my modified ones the builder has installed a exhaust temp ( old school ) and does indicate how it is burning however I would think the AFR should be more accurate for road tuning. Other Ideas, options or equipment for sale to meet these needs appreciated.

It is the sensors that don't like the lead in fuel. It shortens the life of the sensor. But, if they are not a permanent install (probe in tailpipe) then you should be fine. Double check that the lead does not alter the readings but AFAIK it doesn't, it will over time though and you will need to recalibrate the sensor more often.
The disadvantage of the probe in tailpipe is inaccurate reading at idle due to inadequate gas flow as the fresh air outside the tailpipe can get to the sensor. This is the same reason you don't mount a permanent sensor too near the tailpipe. Sounds like you should get an Innovate LM-1, it has a proper recalibration sequence.

Not to worried about low speed / idle readouts just melted innards and highest performance AFR for each turbo Porsche being set up for optimum performance. Is there a manufacturer that makes one that is affordable and can be quickly and temporarily installed from car to car? Thanks for the info about unleaded fuel disclaimer usage on some AFR gauge ads. Sounds like most would work OK as they would only be used for set up and that it would take some time to foul the sensor. What manufacturers would fit my needs/ budget best?

I use an lm-1. I noticed a .5 a/f difference between reading at the tailpipe with their tail pipe mount vs. reading at the header collector with the bung.
If you get the lm-1 (or 2) get the rpm controller. |

FYI: Any WBO2 sensor will be killed by leaded fuel quite soon. The more lead the shorter lifetime. They are not made to run with leaded fuel.

Install an LM, and remove the O2 sensor and reinstall it only for occasional use -

Yep, go for LM like I stated.
